Sorry I've been MIA.  Beckett sleeps most the day and up all night.  This week mom is here during the day so I haven't gotten online.  Just getting on here before I go to bed.

Since the end of my pregnancy I was retaining fluids and my bp was a
little higher. Week 38-39 I gained 2 more pounds with a grand total of
39. At my doc appt, Wed - Oct 21st, Dr. Woods decided it would be best
to go ahead and induce.

My cervix was softened but not dilated. Thursday - Oct 22nd. We got to
Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs at 7pm. We started the IV, did blood
work, and doc came in about 9. Started the cervadial to dilate my
cervix. My nurse Joanna checked at 1am and dilated to about a 2.
Contractions seemed to be ok at that time.

Friday - Oct 23rd. Woke up at 7am to go to the bathroom and my water
broke. Dr. Woods
came in to check me again and I was about 2.5-3cm dilated. At this time
my ctx were getting pretty close and hard (for me anyway) so we ordered
the epidural. The anesthesiologists came in about 9:30 and gave me the
epidural. Less painful than the IV going in. We started the pitocin and
was having lots of ctx but couldn't feel a thing. My parents and Walker
got there about 11:30 and Jeremy's were on their way.

12:00 baby's heartrate started dipping. Nurses tried to
reposition me and had me put on oxygen. Nothing was working so they
paged Dr. Woods again. My family was asked to step out - so they went
to the cafeteria. When Dr. Woods checked me he felt the cord wrapped
around something and said we're going to an emergency situation right
now, get ready for a C section.

From this time until 1 is sorta a blur, but in this short 30 minutes
about 20 people crammed around my bed giving me forms to sign and
rushing me to the c section room. Since I had only had an epi they were
worried I wouldn't numb up, but I did in the knick of time and Jeremy
was able to come in. In less than 2 minutes of cutting Beckett Jude
Allen came out crying at 1:06pm Fri Oct 23 on our 5 year anniversary.

Jeremy went with the nurses to care for Beckett - first bath, APGAR,
diaper change, etc. Jeremy's parents got there just as he was delivered
and everyone got to watch the boys in the nursery. Kandi our nurse took
some amazing pics so I would be able to see later. I was in recovery
pretty nauseous and tired until 2:00pm.

At about 3:30 he had his first bottle and took it like a champ. 6:37
that night had his first hiccups and 7:15 had his first poopy meconium
diaper.

My mom baked us a 3 tiered cake for our anniversary which we shared with the nurses - man were they happy!

Saturday at 8pm the nurse came to check his vitals and he was having
breathing difficulties. See previous note. We got him back Sunday at
11:45am and Dr. Maxwell checked him out said he was fine. Sunday we
asked for no visitors as we were pretty shook up and hadn't gotten to
bond with our baby for 16 hours. Monday morning at 9 he got circumcised
and we were discharged around 4:00pm. He slept through his whole car
ride home.
