Hello ladies,
A little background: I had 2 m/c, which at that time, my dr's told me to start taking a BA. I have one copy of MTHFR gene. They are unsure if that is problem. On BA, I had my son, who is now 3. When he was 2, I had a chemical pg. I now have an 8 month old who is nursing. I just found out this weekend that I am pg. again. Not sure how far along, but I have an u/s next week. I called my son's ped., and some LC. They said that aspirin is considered L3, and that they think a BA should be ok, it is up to me. The OB nurse told me to stop nursing. I am waiting until u/s before I start taking BA.

Here are my questions: Has anyone here ever nursed while taking BA?
If I do wean, how do I go about doing it and what is a good formula to use?

I am very sad, I nursed my first until 21 months and planned on doing this again. He still nurses about 8 times a day. Also, this is how I get him to sleep, don't know how to do this w/o nursing.

Thanks for reading my book!
Wendy

That seems kind of a tough call. Here's Kellymom's info. on pain meds
http://kellymom.com/bf/can-i-breastfeed/meds/pain-meds/

It is listed as an L3, but the footnote explains the concerns with the risk of Reye's syndrome for young children. I would probably talk it over further with the LC and/or pedi. In general, medical professionals, even OB nurses are super quick to recommend stopping nursing. However, the risks need to be considered.

As far as weaning, you just replace the nursing with the bottle, but you will need to pump some to be comfortable. Slowly your supply will diminish.

Do you have any frozen milk? You could mix that with the formula to help with the transition.

I hope you can come to some comfortable decision as to what to do. ((HUGS))

I did not take any BA while nursing.

Weaning will be tough, especially because it sounds like you are not ready. But like pp mentioned you may want to pump a little for relief. Sorry I am not of much help. Does LO take a bottle? Like pp mentioned you could mix formula. I think when I had to use formula I used Similac cause that is what came home in my hospital bag.
