How young do children begin having Imaginary Friends?
My daughter is 21 months old. Last night at dinner she kept yelling "Minnie!" Across the restaurant. She would say, "no minnie," and "commere minnie." I thought MAYBE she saw another little kid, but she has been doing it all day today anytime she's playing by herself. She loves Minnie mouse, but there aren't minnie mouses in all the places she's seen her the last few days.
I didn't think children started having imaginary friends until around age 3-5, is this normal for her??

My youngest daughter is 3, and she has had an imaginary friend  since she was about your daughter's age.  My older kids never had an imaginary friend so I don't know what age is normal though.  Katie friend is named Dubba and he spends a lot of time at our house.  I think it's probably because my older kids are so much older than Katie and she needed someone else to play with so she invented someone.

I have no idea about what age... But i honestly think that having imaginary friends is not normal. It's not something to panic about but you have to teach her what is real and what's not at a young age =)

Why is it abnormal to have imaginary friends?  My 5 year old has a very good grasp of reality and she has one on occasion.

There's zilch wrong with it.  It's a way to expand their imaginations.
