Ladies, I haven't posted in a LONG time but I have a question for you all. Naps. How are your little ones napping? My little guy, Nolan, has stopped napping and it's driving me crazy. I put him in his bed every afternoon like I've been doing for the last year. But for the last week or so he doesn't fall asleep! He lays in bed quietly for a while (like 30-45 minutes) and then he starts calling for me to come get him. No crying, just calling, "Mommy!" Sometimes if I go in and rock him for 10 minutes he will fall asleep in my arms. But most of the time he wants me to hold him and snuggle him, but he still won't sleep. This is crazy! He isn't even 2 yet! He sleeps well at night (like 11-12 hours) but I'm pretty sure he should still be taking a nap every afternoon. Many babies his age are just moving from two naps to one, and he wants to give them up entirely!

Anyone else have a no-napping toddler?

Maddie is down to one nap a day.... she naps from 12:30 to 2:30 everyday. I sometimes wish she would go back to two times a day but since she is daycare now it doesn't really matter. Hope things get better for you!

My DD stopped taking 2 naps around the 1 year mark.

Now, she fights a nap but usually after 5 minutes of whining and attempting to get out of it, she is out for about 1- 1.5 hours. I would just let him "rest" in his crib even if he is not sleeping. If he is not having any trouble, I would not push the issue. In the case of my DD, she needs it. The days where she weasles her way out of a nap (with dad and granddad), she is a royal terror until bedtime.

Good luck :)

Brendan went to 1 nap a day around 17 months. It ranges from 1.5 hours to 3.5 hours.

It sounds like your little one just might be going through a short phase. Between 18 and 24 months their little minds are on overdrive and they tend to regress a bit and cling to familiar things, and go through some separation anxiety. A few posts back I mentioned how all of a sudden Brendan couldnt live without his pacifier, which was never a big clingy object for him. It was a bit dramatic for a week, but then I think he caught up a bit and wasnt as demanding (we are still working on how to get rid of it by 2). The follow couple weeks he'd scream bloody murder for bed time and he never did that. He wasnt sick, scared, wet, etc, it was just something he was testing me for or going through.

I think if you give it a week or two, the naps will get back on track. Just keep putting Nolan down and talking about nap times and hopefully it kicks in again soon.

Hope that helps!

Brayden definitely DOES NOT NAP. It drives me nuts. It's been this way since May or so.. He sleeps well at night for the most part though, and that's all I really care about in the end.

Weve been on just 1 nap for as long as i can remember, and it varies from late morning with an early lunch or early afternoon with early lunch for up to 2.5 hours but normally about 2hours. Very occasionally she wont go down, but usually i try again an hour or so later and shes ready.  she sleeps 12 hours a night also.
He may just be ready to give it up, see how he goes not putting him in his cot at all and see if he gets grouchy for his down time? then maybe try again? Hope you work something out!
