I was just wondering when you moved your older child out of their crib.  We have a cradle for Felicia that Tenley stay in until 4 months.  If she (Felicia) stays in it until 4 months that would make Tenley 16 months but we are thinking we can keep Felicia in the cradle until closer to 6 months.  Thus making Tenley about 18 months.  Do we need another crib or can we get away with a toddler bed?  I was originally thinking we could get another crib but I found a toddler bed on craigslist for way less than I can get another crib for so I was trying to figure out if we can skip a second crib and just go to a bed.

I think you can move them when they're 15 months old, or maybe 18? I can't remember. I moved Kyle when he was 20 months old and he did great.

My older kids were both around 2 when they moved out of the crib and into the toddler bed. Alicia was 4 when she moved from the toddler bed to the big girl bed.

The moves were all out of need to do this now. Alicia moved out in time for Travis and Travis moved out for Sammy.

I think that no matter when you do move them out you need to do a very careful sweep of the room and make sure that there is nothing in there that could possibly hurt them. A toddler bed is easy to climb out of n(and fall out of, Travis did this a lot) and so you want to be sure they are safe when they climb out but you do not jump out of bed to get them in that exact instant! lol

And when they learn how to work a doorknob you have to be even more careful!

I think its a kid by kid basis. We didn't move Kaylynn until close to two I think. I don't think she was two quiet yet but older than 18 months. Thats because she was a total escape artist. Our crib is convertable so we tried earlier and it just made it easy for her to wander around and get to her toys.

Laura is still in a crib and Jenna is in a playpen. Have you considered a playpen? Also, i saw the railings for the toddler bed or regular bed for about 30$. I think it'd help with the falling out.

We moved Rian into a twin bed (we put up 2 side rails) at 17 months so Christian could have the crib. She did great!
We just bought the kids bunk beds that convert into side by side twin beds. They are side by side now and hopefully we can transition Christian to his "big boy bed" in the next few months.

My older two girls were about 16 months I think.  I always start with the mattress on the floor until they are ready to go on the bed with a rail.

Mine have always slept in their cribs from day one, so we bought another crib for Antonio.  We had been borrowing one from my sister, but it broke, so we bought another one.  I'm not at all ready for Elena to be in a toddler bed!
