At their one year check up, Ryan was 18 lbs 6 oz and 27 inches while Liv was 17 lbs 9 oz and 26 inches. My mom says I was 18 lbs when I turned one, so I feel pretty good about that, especially considering they were both about 4.5 lbs when they were born. And Liv especially is growing, because at their 9 month check up she was 3 lbs less than Ryan. She has really hit a growth spurt over the last 2 months.
And man, they couldn't look more different, both stinking cute as can be, but so different. Liv has a little olive complexion, dark brown eyes, and light brown hair that is straight as can be. My mom swears she looks just like me when I was a baby, just opposite coloring. Ryan on the other hand is just was white as he can be, light brown eyes, and curly blonde hair. It's so funny because my hubby is black and people always look at him strange when he is the one carrying Ryan, especially if I am farther behind. But I swear other than the coloring, he is the spitting image of my dh.
They both have a mouth full of teeth and they love to use them. They will eat just about anything and love to feed themselves, especially Liv. I have had a hard time transitioning them to a sippy cup, but I have decided just to try it every so often and not work too much. This is hard for me though because my older dd was off the bottle completely by 9 months.
And true to form, Ryan calls for his "mama" all the time and Liv calls for her "dada" who she is now sometimes calling "daddy" too. They chat with each other all the time and will just giggle; it is too cute. But Liv is actually starting to say real words to us too. The cutest so far is when she says thank you, which sound more like "dank ou", but she does it everytime you give her something. It melts my heart!
