~BZ SIGNATURE GUIDELINES~
Visit the Signature Request board Here.
They can make you glitter names, blinkies, picture signatures, etc.
1.) Tickers are limited to three in total (exceptions made in cases for those with more than 3 children)
2.) Tickers should be stacked one on top of the other instead of putting them side by side. Side by side tickers and graphics create wide posts.
Do a google search for "Free Tickers" and it should come up with some of the sites (Lily Pie, Ticker Central, etc)
3.) Your total signature size (includes everything in you signature section) should be no more than 500 (wide) x 300 (tall). If you choose to link photos or collages for your signature, please abide by the sizing guides. This includes any text under your signature AND links to personal websites.
4.) Additional tickers/graphics posted at the bottom of each post to get around signature guidelines will be removed from your posts.
Don't know the size of your picture?
Right-click on it and select "properties". The "Dimensions" line and it will tell you what size it is in this format: wide x tall.
Not Okay:
NONE of the Photobucket Stamps are okay to use on BZ. They are embedded images and they pose a *security risk* to our systems. Thank you for your cooperation on this issue!
Please consider those who are on dial-up connections. Posts with large graphics are much harder for them to open and sometimes cause some computers to freeze. This may cause your posts/replies not to get read or responded to since some users will have to avoid posts.

I had been in the hospital since June 25th with PIH (pregnancy induced hypertension)
I was transferred on Monday, July 14th from West Bend, Wi. hospital to St. Josehph's in Milwaukee where they have the top level NICU in the state! I was just being observed for PIH
I woke up Weds. July 16th with spotting, the bleeding got heavier throughout the day and then by mid day i was just crampy here and there. I layed down and napped several times, no contractions. At 11pm, I got up to color in my daughters coloring book (sheer bordom being in a hospital for weeks on end) and sat on the "couch". I started having sever pains in my abdomen, but wasn't really contracting. When I got up, i was balled over in pain. I somehow made it to the door (my room was right across from the nurses station) and in tears, i told my nurse "I'm in Labor". Regardless of what i said no one would believe me.
the resident came in, checked my cervix. I went from being 1cm dialated, and thick.. to 3 cm and 30-40% effaced. They then wheeled me to Labor & Delivery. At midnight, they checked my cervix again. Seeing as I was just 34 weeks, it would be too early to deliver if it wasn't real labor. I was hooked up to the monitors for contractions, but my contractions were very mild and sporatic- no set pattern. I've never had a "set pattern" or a "slow labor" My last birth was a c-section so I would need another one again, esp. since babies were breech.
12 midnight the Resident comes in to check my cervix to see if I was in true labor and if there was any progression. I was 5 cm dialted and 75% effaced! So she walks out, comes back in and says- it's c-section go time. After that, everyone started coming into the room like crazy. Next i was leaning over the table scared, wishing i was at home in bed sleeping.
The COOLEST thing was to watch my 2 sons being born. Baby A came out screaming, Baby B wasn't crying much, but he was flailing around. Both babies scored 8, 9 for apgars.
Baby A- Liam Anthony Totsky was born July 17, 2008 @ 2:02 am. 6 lbs 7 1/2 ozs, 18 1/4" long.
Baby B- Logan Michael Totsky was born July 17, 2008 @ 2:03 am. 5 lbs 13 ozs., 19" long. '
Both babies were taken to the NICU. They were given a canula, which is an oxygen tube that goes in the nose, but it was only room o2, nothing to "assist" just what all babies are given at birth. They did so well!
They did have to put IV's in them, as i was aGD, but their sugars were stable at 50, so not too low! They went up with feedings and iv fluids- never had to receive any glucose/ sugar water!
both babies should be coming home by the END OF THIS WEEK! I'm soo super excited too! For being preemies, they're the best 34 weekers anyone's seen there! No clue if they're identical or fraternal yet though! Both are breathing room air, have been since birth. IV's are out, monitors are off except for an apnea monitor that will determine if they're coming home on one or not, both eat about 1.5 ozs every 3 hours. Logan doesn't BF that well, but he's a bit jaundice. Liam bf's almost TOO well LOL, but does horrible with the nipple feedings (bottles as they call it).

Logan Michael:
Thank You! Jessica

Friday evening my husband made me a great relaxing dinner, then we sat on the couch and watched tv for a while just enjoying out time together before the babies came. I didn't feel right all day. I knew something was going to happen. I started to get cramps around 9pm that night so I went to bed and just laid there just thinking about the babies coming and everything. I finally fell asleep and then I woke up at 11:30pm and I was all wet like I peed on myself. I ran to the bathroon. My husband was right next to me. I told him that I thought that my water broke. He called my dr and he was told to bring me to the hospital. We went to the hospital and they took me right to L&D. I was now crying and scared that something was going to happen. My dr came in about 10 minutes after I was there. They tried everything to stop the labor but they couldn't. So then my dr called in his team to do the c-section. The whole time I just couldn't believe this was happening to me. Then around 2:10am or so they took me in the room where they would do the c-section and by quarter to 3am I had all 3 of my babies. They took them to weigh them and clean them. After I was settled in my room, they brought my babies in to see me and give me all the information on them. I couldn't believe how big they were. My dr couldn't believe it either. He told me that I didn a great job. Now we are home and I still can't believe it is all over and they are here. My husband is off for 6 weeks with me and my mom and his mom are here during the day to help us. Nighttime is another story. We get them down and when one starts to cry they wake up the other two. It's going to be a full time job but one that I'm glad to have. Hope everything is going well with everyone else waiting to have their babies. I will be back soon to talk to you guys when I have time.

When we got there they checked me in triage. I was 2 cm dialated so they had me walk around for an hour and then checked me again. I was 2 1/2 cm. Then the nurse asked me if I wanted to get in the jacuzzi. The jacuzzi was wonderful. I stayed in for awhile and she checked me again. Finally I was 3 1/2 cm dialated and they admitted me into the hospital. My Dh and I were shocked. This was supposed to be our trial run. He wasn't due until the 31st. Once we were admitted, I got all hooked up to the machines since I was having an epi. I did have to wait about 2 hours for the epi because the anesthesiologist was in an emergency c-section. I loved my epi. I am amazed at all of you women who do this naturally. I had no side effects from the epi. After getting the epi, the nurse said to rest for awhile and I got checked about 4 am and was 8 cm. During this time, his heartbeat kept peaking and my temp. was going up so they gave me penicillen(sp) and tylenol just in case there was an infection. 2 hours later, I was 10 cm and ready to push.
I started pushing at about 6:30 and pushed for 1/2 hour before my nurses and dr left for a shift change. The new dr and nurse were very nice. I pushed for 2 more hours and Garrett was born, screaming at the top of his lungs for about 15 minutes. He was not happy. He had his cord wrapped around his neck once, around his arm and shoulder once, and then twice around his leg. I knew he was an acrobat in there but didn't expect him to be so tied up. He was a little slow to peak up so they called the nicu nurses to check him out. He was fine and scored and 8 on both his apgar tests. Finally, I got to hold him and got him settled down. It was a surreal feeling and I wouldn't change it for anything. I had a great pregnancy and a great delivery.
Thanks for reading.

Birth Story:
So on the Thursday and Friday before birth was at a funeral for DH's grandmother, so busy those two days. On Saturday was my family and friend babyshower, which was fabulous. Got everything a girl and new born could want. So Sunday was a relaxing day of sitting on my couch, playing with my daughters and unwrapping all the and packaging and sterilizing everything from Saturday. So maybe not really relaxing but felt like it. Got my girls ready for bed and finally asleep at 8:30, sent HUBBY to Taco Bell for a late night snack/dinner. Got up from my patio chair after at the time DH was leaving, thought I had just pee'd my pants, and went straight to the bathroom for a shower to wash off. While in the shower still feeling the water running down my leg which was not shower water. Got out called my friend who had her water break, since I have never had that feeling or happen to with my other two, so completely new. She confirmed that the thought was correct. DH got home told him what was going on and that we needed to get the DD's to grandma and Nana's house, we woke them up from their 30 minute naps sent them to the neighbors till Grandma and Nana could get there, packed them a quick bag, I didn't grap a bag at all because that would have meant I was prepared for this. So not going to happen. So once the girls were shipped off, off the the hospital DH and I headed. Arrived at the ER at 9:30PM Sunday night. Was in the L&D area by 9:45. Was lucky enough to get a very cool on call DR since mine was on vacation. Love it.
Dr came in and he let me know that since we were doing a repeat c-section and my contractions were coming every 3 minutes at a significant strength, which I still question because I was feeling nothing but leaking water, I was first on the list of people to go. It was between me and another lady in the L&D who was going to go first. I guess I won for the night.
I was in the OR at 11:45PM and Owen was born at 12:13AM Monday. Thinking it was the quickest delivery I had ever been through, and especially since all I did was walk into the ER. But Owen arrived exactly 4 weeks early at 36 weeks 0 days on the calendars. He was smaller than my other kids but still a good size for how early he was at 5 lbs 8oz. 17 inches.
He spent 36 hours in the NICU because of too high or too low blood sugars and not knowing how to suck. At the end of 36 hours he was in my room and doing great. We finally made it home on Friday the 22nd and so happy to be here.
Everyone is very happy to have him home. My 9 year has taken on the second mother role and my 7 year old just wants to play with him. Life is now complete and perfect.
Love to all and happy wishes for easy labors in the near future for all.
Still trying to figure out pics and will be changing my siggy soon.

born August 16, 2008 @ 2:57 a.m.
7 pounds 3 ounces
I knew this past week that I would go very soon, I was not making it all the way to my due date this pregnancy!
Friday morning I lost my mucus plug. I knew it didn't mean today is the day, but still.
My appt went well on Friday afternoon. I was 50% effaced and 2 cm dialated. Also did not mean much of today or next week.
So on my way home I went to the bank. I cleaned the floors when I got home, swept, mopped, vaccumed. Then I went out and bought my son some diapers and got a pizza. A lady in the pizza shop looked at me and said "wow, I feel bad for you."
So I go to bed normal. Alicia followed me to bed and cuddled me.
I woke up at 11:45 and had to pee. When I moved to get out of bed I felt a gush. I closed up my legs and slid out from my blanket with another gush. My water had broke!!
So I get to the bathroom and pee and whipe and there is lots of bloody show. I slap on a fresh pair of shorts and underwear and a pad.
I then packed my bag. I hadn't packed yet!!
I woke my husband up and told him my water had broken. He is up and making coffee while I call my mom and my OB.
My mom comes over about 20 minutes later to watch my kids and we are off.
We were out of gas so we stopped and got gas and my hubby noticed that our tire was flat!! So we fill it up with some air and finally get going. By this time my contractions are quite painful and very close to one another.
One torturous car ride later we make it to the hospital. We check in and they check me out before I get a room. I went pee again and there was a ton of mucus with blood. Big old glop! I was dialating quickly!
So I get to the exam room where they hook you up and check you while you wait for the birthing room.
I am contracting almost constantly now. I change and get into the bed. The nurse calls for a delivery kit just in case because I am in so much pain. Another nurse comes and checks my cervix. I am at 5 cm. But now, I mean right away after they check me, I need to push. So my nurse calls the other nurse back in to check me again. Three minutes after I was 5 cm I had dialated to 9 cm!!!TIme to go!!
So they rush me up to the birthing room. I simply told them to "just hurry!!" The constant contraction hurt massively bad and the urdge to push was overwhelming!!
We made it to the room! There are a ton of people in there and all telling me to move into the other bed. I told them no. I was pushing! My OB still had not arrived. So the very nice nurse is there along with other nurses and staff and my hubby. I push through some enormous pain and burning and I could tell what part was coming out and when. It went very quick, just a couple of good strong pushes! My husband said "It's coming!", he just looks in awe!
So I curl up my head and I push and the baby is out!! SOmeone yells "It's a boy!!" It was 2:57 a.m. Three hours of labor.
I look down and I am laughing and so beyond happy! He is tiny! I say "he is so small!!"
They weigh him and he is 7 pounds 3 ounces! My smallest baby by far! My others were 8 lbs 2 oz and 9 lbs 1 oz. So he just looks so very little to me!
Now I move over while they are all checking him out. FInally made it to the birthing bed, lol. HE is squalking and crying and sounds great! I delever the placenta. I had a tear and it had to be stitched. SO they start stitching me up and my OB finally arrives!! Ahh well, he missed the excitement.
I get stitched up and checked out and am shaking violently through the next hour or so.
Finally we get upstairs to my room. Baby is rooming in and so he gets his check-up and first bath in the room with us. My husband is tired, but I am awake and thrilled! SO I stay awake and just hold and watch my perfect little son until he wakes up around 8ish.
I did not have time for the antibiotics for my group B strep, so we have to stay for 48 hours of observation. So we stay. We both are well and healthy and he is so perfect!!!
This whole thing just amazes me. The pregnancy flew by and now I have three beautiful kids. I have two sons!! And i am happier than possible.

Saturday the 16th I decided I wanted to go to the stock car races with my DH.When we got into the pits I felt a little wet down there (ss tmi) and I started getting concerned a little.I had to go to the bathroom and take a look and I was completly soaked and I totally freaked because I was only 36 wks.I of course told my Dh about what was happening and he freaked as well lol.He had them stop the racing so we could walk across to get to our car.Everyone was looking at me soooo I was completly embrassed
.
Anyhoo, we finally got to the hospital and that when my contractions hit Ouch! They put me on pitocin and was in alot of pain but the epi helped with that
.My little boy was born the next day the 17th of August at 5:33 pm.He is currently in the NICU but is expected to come home soon.We are sooo happy that he's getting healthy and strong! I love him to death!!
Thanks for reading!

Last Wednesday, I was having some ctx at lunchtime, so I called the doctor. Went in to be monitored and the NP checked me and told me I wasn't dilated at all and only 75 % effaced, so she sent me home, saying I could go like this for weeks!
They sent me home for nothing! Within an hour of getting home from the doctor's office, I ended up calling them back, and going to L&D... got there at 6:35 pm and Catherine Rose arrived at 7:28 pm on 8/20/08.
6 lbs, 15 oz, 19 " long and very cute!!! Eats like a champ and she even slept from 1 am to 7 am on her first night in the world!!!
I'll post pics later!

Born: Aug. 22, 2008
EDD: Sept, 9
6lbs. 12oz
20 inches long
Birth Story: As soon as I hit 36 wks, dh, dd and I went for walks every night trying to get things moving along (had been on bedrest for 6 wks prior to then). Thursday nite I was 37 wks and 3 dys and couldn't take being pregnant anymore, so dh and I decided to try having sex to move things along. And boy did it work! Afterwards, contractions were coming every 4 mins for an hour. So I called my sis to come watch dd and dh called the doc to let them know we were coming in. While dh was on phone with doc, my water broke! Now we knew that he was definitely coming!
We get to hospital about midnight and I'm 5 cm dialted! Yeah. So they give me the epi and the contractions stop! Finally about 8am they give me pitocin to start things up again and by 11 am I was complete. Had to wait till 11:30am to start pushing - thats when my doc showed up. I pushed for about 30 mins and he was born! Yeah! We are all so happy to have him here! He is breastfeeding great and we were home the next day!
Family of 4!
Meeting big sis Rian!

Here's the story:
I went to my 38 week apt on Friday, August 22 and did all the usual stuff. I was pretty upset because my dr was gone because she had been filling in for another dr so much. I had to see a doctor I had seen once early on in the pg and she just wasn't my dr that we have such a good relationship with. My dr is actually more of a friend of ours.
Anyway, I was supposed to get my membranes stripped and this dr I had to see said no way was she going to do it. I was so mad and hormonal, I was about to cry. She told me to lie down so we could see how dilated I was so I did and I was 3.5 cm dilated and then she kept feeling around and said she thought the baby's umbilical cord was presenting first and not the baby's head so she wanted to do an u/s to be sure so they moved us to the u/s room and sure enough the cord was between my cervix and the baby's head.
She sent me to the hospital for a few hours to monitor the baby and make certain she was okay and there wasn't pressure on the cord.
Later that night, she came to check on me and said the cord was still there even worse and we could either do a C-section right then or wait until morning and see what happens. She said that I would have to stay in the hospital hooked up to monitors in case the baby became compromised and they could do an emergency C-section if we chose not to do the C-section that night. That is what we chose to do was to wait through the night.
The next morning that same dr came in and said that the cord had indeed moved and that we would do an u/s to double check and then I could either go home or induce. We did the u/s and the cord had moved so we decided to induce so the cord didn't go back into place. She called my dr and my dr said she would be in to do the induction.
The nurse then came in and said they had 2 laboring patients that they just admitted and she was unsure if they would have enough staff to do our induction so we waited for about 3 hours and then the CNA came in and said they were moving me to an L&D room right away.
We moved over and shortly after 10:00 am, my dr came in and said she would strip my membranes and I was 4 cm dilated and right after she did my water broke on it's own so they hooked up some pitocin and the show was on. I did really well until about 3:00 and then for 2 hours I had made no progress so I decided to get an epidural to make it go by quicker. I fight my contractions so bad that I was making no progress. I got my epidural and right after I was 7 cm. My dr came in about 5:30 and checked me and said I was at a 10 and the baby's head was right there and it was time to push. Four sets of pushes and she was here. It was amazing!!! I had pushed for 3 hours with my other DD so this was nice.
She was born at 6:09 pm and it was a wonderful experience. In fact, right before the last push, I was laughing so hard that the dr said I better push before I laugh her out.
They had a mirror set up so I could watch the whole pushing thing and I highly recommend it. It was amazing to be able to watch my daughter be born!
We were able to come home last night, which was also very nice compared to last time when we had to stay a week.
I started nursing her right after birth and she latched on almost immediately. She is a wonderful nurser, which is great!!! She's an eating machine!
I will try to get some pics posted soon.
Also, thank you all so much for your well wishes, thoughts and prayers. It meant so much and it worked because the cord moved!!!

we are home! took a bit of convincing but the peditrician agreed to send us home a few hours shy of the 24 hours.
so ya'll know that saturday night was pretty awful-contractions, backache, and just feeling funky. sunday morning the contractions had somewhat leveled out but i wasn't feeling bbp move very much; the nurse sent us to l&d triage to get monitored. the nst was non-reactive so the ob on duty (my ob, yay!) did an ultrasound. he found that the fluid level wasn't up to par and the placenta was deteriorating. combine that with less fetal movement and it's not the best situation. he recommended inducing.
they started the pitocen at 2:15 pm but things didn't progress very well. i started getting pukey so they have me anti-nausea meds and when they cranked up the pit i asked (begged, lol) for pain meds. i was high as a kite for about half an hour. i still wasn't progressing so i decided to go with the epidural in hopes of relaxing and helping my body get to work.
they broke my water right after giving me the epi which helped speed things up. i went from not quite 7 cm to fully dilated in about 30 minutes, puking the whole time, so much for the epi! my ob wasgetting ready to go in the or when i started pushing so his widwife came in just in case he didn't make it back. i pushed for just under an hour and my doc made it just in time to deliver.
pace abigail was born at 10:15pm screaming her head off! she fought the nurses the entire time they were cleaning her up. chris held her for almost an hour before i was able to hold her. that first hour post-delivery was AWFUL. i was still puking my guts out, having awful contractions, my back felt like it was breaking, and my hands were tingly and cramping up. i was a mess. when i finally was able to function i got her to nurse (she ate like a champ) then they took her to the nursery. she slept almost 7 hours! she's making up for that now...does NOT want to go to sleep.
thanks for all the well wishes!

Then around 3pm now on Saturday the 23rd (My birthday
) I felt major pressure on my hips and I could feel every contraction. So everyone including myself was thinking that the epidural was wearing off, so they upped it and still it wasn't working so they gave me more...lol... Well about 3:30 or 3:45 my midwife comes in checks me and says "oh wow his head is right there) Now this part I am just telling because in case any of you go through this, don't feel alone because I did it also. Now when she says that, my hormones went into overdrive and I started to cry uncontrollably (I hate spelling..lol sorry) I wanted my baby, but I knew once I started to push my life was going to change in minutes. My boys were going to be big brothers, Jon and I were going to have a child together, will I love this baby like my others, goodness I cannot fully explain all the feelings and thoughts that ran through me at that moment. My midmife and I sat and talked, and I cried...lol.. she decided to give me some time alone, with me and my baby stil in my belly. Which I couldn't have been happier to have that moment alone with him. Well during that time my little man pushed himself down, and when I proped my legs up to push, you could see him bulging. Two ( think 1.5) pushes later
Zachary Lewis was born at 4:01pm
7lbs. 8oz.

I have to say he was the best birthday day gift any mother could have asked for. EVERY fear, worry any negative thing was for NOTHING. He is perfect. When he hears my voice he looks for me, I know how to rock him, I just stand the way I would when I am folding clothes, doing laundry, standing in line at the store. My gosh it's like I have known this little person all my life, it's just now I can see him.
Each one of my boys have given me something, somthing to love about them, to love about myself, to love about life. Women say once you are a mother then you will understand a mother's feelings of love. I so believe this. I have always loved my two boys never thinking I could handle 3 kids, but I have felt uncomplete with my family. Now that I have Zachary, I for once feel like the mom I have always wanted to be!!!! There is no more gap or void that I feel. I looked at each one of my boys tonight, and knew that I loved all of them with the same amount of love but for all different reasons, and it's just from what all they have given me as a person, and mother.
If you have made it this far, thanks for listening. Love your bellies, your stretch marks and everything little thing that you think make leave a mark on you for the rest of your life, because those marks is just one more beautiful thing about being a mother.
I will post pictures sometime this week when I can load up all the images

Birth Story:
I was checked in on Thursday night to start my induction with Cervadil. I was 2 cm and 80% when they started. In the morning when they removed the cervadil, there had been no change. Pitocin was started at 5:30 am. I progressed pretty slowly and at 8:30 when the dr broke my water, I was only at 3 cm. That helped move things a little bit faster and I got my epidural around 9:00. At 11:50 I was only 4, maybe 4.5 cm, and my contractions started becoming really painful (after no pain because of the epidural). I asked about the pain and was given a re-dose of the epidural medicine. This had absolutely no effect and in fact my contractions started getting worse. The nurse checked me and I was at 6 cm only 30 minutes after the last check. After that check I don't remember any of the times, but I know that my epidural was no longer working at all and everything was moving very quickly. The rest of the details are a little sketchy in my mind, but some of the things I remember are the nurses asking Chris to move the delivery equipment table over to where they could reach it; the nurses frantically calling to see if the dr was available; and lots of furious activity surrounding me. The dr did in fact manage to make it in time (he was finishing a c-sec when he was called), but only barely. I pushed about 6 times before Meredith was born. The first time, I was actually upright and felt like the baby's head pushed against the bed. The next few times I pushed, the nurses were trying to get me to stop pushing and breathe instead since the dr hadn't arrived. The first push after the dr got there, the baby's head came out! I found out later that the cord was around her neck so tightly that they had to cut it instead of just pulling it over her head. The next (and last) push was at 1:23 which I actually opened my eyes for and saw the baby come out in this huge burst of arms, legs, and fluid! It was amazing... she looked like she'd been shot out of a cannon! The dr was really surprised, but did manage to catch her.
I ended up needing just a few single stitches for some first degree tears, but nothing like I had with Michael. Meredith was in excellent shape for being almost 3 weeks early, and did not need to spend any time in the NICU. Overall, my official labor time was 8 hours (5:30-1:23), but really it was only about an 1.5 hours (11:50-1:23). It was amazing, painful, and exhausting, but I have a beautiful baby girl to show for it! So precious!

August 19th 2008
1:44pm
4lb 8.6oz, 18.7inches
35 weeks 5days
On Monday, August 18th, I had an appt with my specialist and had a biophysical profile as usual. My doctor called later that morning with the results of some labs that had been run over the weekend. He said the lab results showed I had mild pre-eclampsia and I needed to be seen 1st thing Tuesday morning with my regular OB to check how quickly the pre-eclampsia was progressing. The appt was scheduled for 10am Tuesday the 19th.
I went to the appt on the 19th at 10am and I had overnight progressed from mild pre-eclampsia to severe pre-eclampsia. I had a significant amount of protein in my urine, my bp was 170/112 even after lying down for a while, and I still had the severe headache I had had since the Thursday before. My doctor was concerned about seizures and said I needed to be induced right away.
I went home and grabbed some stuff and threw it in a bag for me and the baby. I called my mom and told her to be on her way up (she is my support person and lives 3 hours away, so I needed her to leave ASAP). I was checked in at the hospital by 11:30am and had my labwork drawn up. Then I was sent up to L&D to my room where I assumed I would be for a while until the induction worked. My cervix was closed and unfavorable for induction, so both my doctor and I assumed it would be a long process.
By 12:30pm, I had been hooked up to my IV and they started a magnesium boles. It is apparently a high dose of magnesium that they run in through the IV over 20 minutes and then turn it down. Man, did that ever burn. It was a very uncomfortable experience. But during the time that they were running the magnesium, a bunch of nurses and doctors kept coming in and out of my room and making me lie on my side and checking the monitors. The baby's heartrate was dropping significantly and they were very concerned.
At 12:50pm, the resident came in and said they were stopping the magnesium and my OB was on her way over to the hospital right away. They were concerned about baby and said a c-section may be necessary.
At 1:05pm, my OB showed up and took one look at the heartrate and said it was time to do a c-section. I asked what was going on, and she said this baby will NOT tolerate an induction. She said all we had done was started some magnesium and he wasn't tolerating that at all and if we waited any longer, we would have a stillborn. She kept saying to the nurses and residents "I want this baby here sooner rather than later." It was very scary.
At 1:12pm, I was in the OR and they were working on starting the spinal. They couldn't get it in until 1:33pm. I was shaking and nervous and crying. I had only got to make one phone call and called my mom to tell her I was having a c-section right now. So no one was going to be with me. I was nervous and scared and really didn't want to have the c/s but I could tell by my doctor's tone that it was absolutely necessary. That was the longest 20 or so minutes of my life.
At 1:44pm, the baby was born. They showed him to me very briefly and then had to take him away. He had to be on oxygen for the first bit and they took him to the NICU. I then threw up from the morphine and the spinal. That was fun. Then I kind of dozed off while they finished up.
By 2:29pm, I was in recovery. I got out of recovery at 3:22pm and got to be wheeled downstairs to the NICU to see my baby again. He was doing really well by then and was off the oxygen. He was out of the NICU around 5:15pm and didn't have to go back.
They didn't get his weight and everything at first because they were busy working on him and making sure he was ok. Apparently, he was extremely wrapped up in his cord. It was wrapped around both shoulders and they had a very hard time getting him out even as a c/s.
But he is here. It took me a couple days to name him but he finally got his name. We got out of the hospital on Saturday, August 23rd but I was readmitted on Monday for complications from surgery. I was released on Wednesday the 27th and hope I will not have to go back.
So that is my birth story. Here are a few pictures.

She is finally here! Born on her Papa's birthday, August 26th 2008, Grace Marie Elsie joined our family
It had been a long road of plenty of bouts of pre-term labour, early dialation in my 32nd week, but we made it to 38 weeks! We had been in L&D most of Monday with the usual false labour and decided to go home to wait it out. I had my 38 week appointment on Tuesday morning which I made it to. The doctor joked around asking me "what happened" the day before, etc. They would have broke my water then, but without strong, consistent contractions they couldn't since I was still technically *early* and 38 weeks is not. So he told me he was going to check to see what was going on. He checked me, did the sweep, and asked me "Do you want to have this baby today" to which I said (of course) "YES!!" and he replied, "good, because you are 4cm already"!! woo hoo!!! He instructed me to go to the hospital for 1pm and he would be there soon after to break my water.
We arrived just after 1 and it was a long wait until he arrived at 330. My usual contractions had suddenly picked up around 230 so I think it was going to be Tuesday no matter what because of the sweep. He came in and broke my water at 340. My mom, Tim, and best friend Natalie were all taking bets as to when she would arrive. My mom took between 4:30 and 5, Natalie took between 5:30 and 6 and Tim stuck to 5:05--no budging. By 4:30 my mom decided to run to get food and even though I said I would try my hardest to go without meds, I just felt so physically exhausted from weeks of contractions so I asked if I could have the shot of morphine. The nurse checked me at 4:45, needle in hand, and asked me to push with the next contraction. She looked me right in the eye and said "this won't even kick in by the time you have this baby. She'll already be here". I started crying because it had gone too late and now I had NO choice! She said by after the next contraction, I will be ready to push because I was almost just there. As she replaced the syringe I could feel during the contraction that I was not pushing, but I could feel the baby. The nurse came back over and checked me and yelled for help because Grace was right there. Natalie, who was beside me, ran to get my mom. Mom came in moments before my doctor and he came in moments before she was born.
Tim's now picking our lottery numbers because Grace entered the world at 5:03pm after only 3 contractions of pushing and (my personal victory) no stitches

She weighed a healthy 6 lbs 12.5 oz and was 19 3/4 in long. She is beautiful and perfect and already a cuddler.
Caleb is still a bit wary, but we're working on it
After a few visits with her, he's not as interested
I'll post the video of him meeting her for the first time in my next post.
Until then, I'm off to barely any sleep, a newborn, and a toddler. Yikes.

9lbs 6oz and 21in
Ok so sunday morning I was feeling fine and not cxt much, so we packed the girls stuff and went to my moms. Around 4pm I started cxt at my moms, they were between 3 and 6 mins apart. Not too strong, but they still made me a bit nervous, since we were farther away from the hospital. So we left around 7pm and the girls stayed there. I went to sleep when we got home and they spaced out and were 10ish mins apart when I woke up. I called the hospital and they had a room ready so we headed right over. We got there right at 7am, they hooked me up to the monitors (still cxt and now they are around 6mins apart) and I had to wait around for the drs. Right before 9am the drs came in and checked me, I was 5cm! Finally more dialated than the week before, lol. So one dr tries to break my water and he cant... then the next dr tries and it takes him 5 or so mins and he finally gets it. Then he was pushing back the babies head so more water would come out. The water had a tiny bit of merconium in it, barely noticable. So I stayed on the monitors for a while longer and then they let me get up. I walked a few laps, sat on the ball for a while, and walked some more. Around 12:30 I was starting to get a bit uncomfortable so I asked to go in the tub. It was so nice as usual. At this point my cxt are very strong, but still only 6 mins apart. We still didnt have a name, so while I was in the tub Will was looking through the name book and saying stuff he liked. The drs were planing on checking me at 2 so I had to get out of the tub. The drs came in and since I was still only cxt every 6 mins they ordered pitocen. So my nurse brings it in and gets it all ready. (the whole time this is going on I'm on the moniters again) My cxts are getting worse and all of a sudden they are 3 mins apart. So she and I both want to hold off on the pit and she calls the dr in to check me. I'm only 6cm so I ask for some nubane. She gives me the shot around 3 and rolled me over to the side so I could "rest" lol. The second I rolled over I started having the cxts in my back big time. I never had back labor before. So all through this Will is still looking for names, lol, and comforting me. My nurse was pushing on my lower back with the cxts and that helped. The babies heart rate started dipping with each cxt but it was coming right back up and my nurse said it happens in transition sometime, so we were hoping things were moving along. Then I had 3 cxts that were unbearable, and I told them I couldnt do it anymore. Then the 4th one I could feel her coming down and my body pushed on its own a bit. I told her "baby's coming!" and thats when it all got crazy. All of the stuff was out side of the room still (and they were nervous because of the merconium) and my nurse paged for drs quick. I was still on my side and I really really didnt want to move, lol, I also wasnt ready to push her out yet since it happend so fast. So the drs come in really fast and getting ready and I finally roll over. She was crowning already, I was not doing well with it this time... Every one was very encouraging but I was hurting (more than with Lilly who was bigger) and I finally got her head out with what seemed like the longest push ever, lol. Then I was ok.... I was not contracting so I told the drs to just wait, lol, and they did so that was nice, then one more push for the rest of her. I kept asking Will to tell me what it was, but the dr blurted it out too fast "its a girl!" The dr told Will if he was going to cut the cord that he better do it fast because she was not crying. He cut it and they brought her right over to the table and roughed her up a bit. They had the oxygen mask on her but Will and I didnt notice if they suctioned her or not. She started crying quickly. This whole time I was having a breakdown or something. I kept appologizing since I grabbed WIll and scratched him while her head was coming out and because I was yelling too much. It was crazy, lots of emotion. I had no tears which is nice and I seem to be recovering well. She is such a good nurser and a great baby in general. Not to mention a cutie
... Ok here are some pics
This is right after I got off the moniters after they broke my water. Last belly pic

We went to the doctor on Monday, the 25th, and they diagnosed me with mild pre-e. They decided that they wanted to do a planned induction for the 29th.....well, I guess he didn't want to wait that long! When they measured me, I was only 1cm and 80% effaced, which hadn't changed in 3 weeks!
My husband and I went to Target to get a few things we needed before our baby showed up. I was having a lot of pressure and menstrual like cramps, which the doctor told me during the appointment was completely normal. They started to get more and more intense, so I told my husband I probably just needed to go home since I was put on bedrest. When we got home, my stomach just started hurting so intensely and my contractions began at 5:30. They were lasting for about 30 seconds each and were coming a few minutes apart. I called the doctor and they told me to come to the hospital for an evaluation. I was in the hospital for about 20 minutes and they admitted me. That was at 7:30.
I labored for about 4 hours and they were concerned that my cervix wasn't changing at all so they put me on Pitocin. I happily accepted an epidural hoping that a migraine wasn't on its way, and the epidural kept it at bay throughout labor...thank God! After several hours of Pitocin, they took me off of it because my body wasn't responding. That was at 2 am and I was still wasn't changing so they wanted to see what my body could do on its own and they told me to sleep. I woke up at 6am with a strong feeling of needing to push. I called the nurse, who came in 40 minutes later, and she measured me.....I was ready to push. By the time they realized I was ready to push, my epidural had completely worn off (somehow) and they told me there was no way I could have any pain meds so I pushed without pain medication for 2 hours. He was finally born at 8:33 and was so beautiful! When I can post some pictures, I will! Thanks for reading!

Brice Benjamin
August 28, 2008 10:11am
7 lbs 4.9 oz 19 inches
Brice was originally set to enter our lives on August 29, 2008 but little did we know he wanted to come a day earlier. Around 2:50am, August 28, I woke up to use the bathroom. When I stood up I could feel warm fluid trickling down my legs - I momentarily thought "maybe it's my water" but quickly banished that thought by reminding myself that I was still tightly closed at my appt on Monday and I had no recollection of ever losing my plug (in my head, I thought that there were certain things needing to have happened before your water could break)...
So I sat down on the toilet and I was just constantly tricking - I kept thinking there is no way I am peeing on myself, let alone having this much urine. I finally peed and the trickling kept coming. So I said "George... (no response), George... (no response) GEORGE!!!" He said "what" to which I replied with "I *think* my water broke." I have never heard him get out of bed as fast as he did and he said "What... Are you sure?!?" I told him I was pretty positive because it just wasn't stopping. I asked him to bring me new panties and to grab a pad out of the suitcase. I told him that it just wasn't stopping... to which he replied with "sit there for a few minutes and maybe it will stop" (such a typical male answer)!!
We finally got into the car and I insisted upon driving since it would be my last time for 6 weeks. We got to the hospital around 4ish am. George hysterically laughed at me because I waddled through the hospital to the elevators up to the 3rd floor with two towels between my legs. Once we arrived in L&D, they brought me into a triage room to confirm that my water had broken, to do a scan to make sure he was still head down and to check my cervix. I was given confirmation that my water was indeed broken but I was barely a fingertip dilated! So they called my doctor to let him know that I was in 'latent labor.' They told me that they would do my c-section after the 6:30am case.
I was rolled into the OR around 9:30am. They did my spinal and then my catheter. George came into the OR at 9:56am. At 10:11am I heard the most amazing noise I have ever listened to in my life... Brice's first cry. And let me tell you, he has a set of lungs - he was not a happy little man to have left my cozy womb. His APGAR scores were 9 and 9 and the nurse told me (later that evening) that the umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck 1 time. Brice & George went up to the nursery while my doctor finished putting me back together and closing my incision. Once I was back in my recovery room, anesthesia came in and did a tap block (inserted anesthesia into my left and right flank). I was EXHAUSTED after all of this (and I kept questioning why because I was cut open lol) and I had lost my voice too - it was very odd. About 15 minutes later, Brice and George came into the room and I held him for the first time and I AM SO IN LOVE!!!
Breastfeeding is going okay. Lactation wasn't able to come in for my first 2 feedings, so both of my nipples are bruised but he is latching on wonderfully and he eats like an oinker!! He ate 10 times in the first 24 hours!! And his bladder and bowels are working very well too. So far everything is great - no jaundice he has lost about 7% body weight since birth (but I think it's because he has pooped 3 times!). He is being circumcised as I type this. Actually my doctor just came in and said that he did wonderful.
I am doing wonderful - my incision doesn't really hurt. I feel like my ab muscles want to fall out of my body. I got up yesterday and took a shower and walked around. I am lightly bleeding.
We are being discharged today since we are both doing so well and we are trying to get home before Hurricane Gustav. I might be mia after Monday if we lose power (I really hope that we don't because that will be rough with Brice being so new).
I will post pictures later today once we are home!

We got to the hospital around 3:30 am on Tuesday. When I got to the hospital I was 2-3 cm and having irregular contractions. By the time I got my pitocin it was probably close to 4:30. My dr came in around 8am and broke my water. I was 5 cm at that time. I got to 8-9 cm and kinda stopped dialating for awhile. Finally at 12:40 I reached 10 cm. My dr came in and I pushed through 1 contraction and her head was halfway out. While we were waiting for the next contraction she just kinda slipped out by herself. It was the easiest delivery I've ever had.
She weighed 7lbs 3oz and was 20" long. The day before we left the hospital she was down to 6lbs 11oz. She is just so tiny. She has a touch of jaundice so we had to bring her in for bloodwork this am. Her levels have increased just a tad so we have to go for more bloodwork tomorrow. Other than the jaundice, she is absolutely perfect!!!!!!!
Here are a couple of pics. I'll post more later.

I went into the hospital at 6:30 am to be induced on Aug 30th 2008. They put me on the monitors to monitor me and the baby for a while. They doctor came in about 8:15 am to place the sidatec. I didn't do anything really. Went from a 2 to a 3 but the doctor came in at 10:50am to break my water. From there it went a little better my contractions started to get a lil more intense. I went to a 5 and then asked for the epidural and I was scared to get it cause I hadn't got one all my other labors. But I got it at 1:15pm. I then was complete an hour later. She called the doctor to come and deliver. I pushed like 3 times and he was born at 2:47pm. He weighed 7lbs 14oz and is 20 1/2 in long. He has lots of black hair. And is beautiful! I will post pics when I can.
