Hi

This is an embarrassing question but I can't find an answer on the net if there is one. My hair down there was getting really bushy and looking wild so I asked my husband to use his trimmer to trim it down. Well although he did a good job now it's really irritated. He didn't shave it all off as I know growing it completely back will be worse, I have trimmed with scissors before with no problems. But now the skin is irritated when I sit, walk etc. It's the skin at the sides where it rubs. it's a little red now and sore. I have tried to find info on a cream I could use to sooth the skin but safe while pregnant. I don't want to cause an infection or harm my unborn baby. My husband suggest calling a pharmasist to ask which I may have to just buck up and do, feeling quite embarrassed to do so at the moment. I have learned my lesson though to not trim down there again though as I am sure it's going to take weeks to grow to a length that feels okay again, uggg. Sorry for the details but I hope we are adult enough here to answer in a sensitive manner.

Thanks for any suggestions or help.

BZ monster..grrr
bikini zone might work. It's specifically made for razor bumps etc around the vaginal area so i assume it wouldn't cause infection.  You can find it at walmart. good luck!

Bikini Zone cream I don't know if that would be safe during pregnancy? I did a google search and can't find any data stating safe or unsafe, does anyone know? I beginning to think I just have to learn from what I have done and never do it again. Uggg is sucks cause I am going on vacation this weekend for a week and will be doing a lot of walking around and shopping. I am going to be so sore and in pain!!! Never again I say, never again!!!

a&d is a diaper rash ointment that I use on my kids it also works on adults and older kids that have irritation.  My husband also used it on his tattoos when he got them.  I dont know if it would go by anyother name.

ah okay, thanks. Not sure if that is safe while pregnant though. Never heard of that brand though but I do live in Ontario Canada. I go to my OB on Wednesday and will ask if I can use something down there and to take a look and see if I have an infection and take a test. I think it's just irritation from the trimming though cause it happened the day after and it's not that red just  very sore! But better to get checked then wondering and worrying. Never again will I do this, never again!

YOu have razor burn, it will stop hurting and the redness will go away in a few days, nothing that I would be to concerned about.  Keeping it dry by using baby powder usually helps more than creams and lotions.

Hi there,

Thanks, it could be razor burn, but can you get then from a guys electric trimmer. Also I feel pricking every time I walk so if it is razor burn it's also the pricking that is irritating the skin. He also did a little trimming beyond the vagina area ( don't want to say cause embarrassed i am sure you know what I mean) and I am beginning to think that is the area that is the irritated area because ever time I walk it pricks and hurts. I have learnt to never touch or trim that area again as now i have to endure weeks if not months of tourture!! Going to my OB appointment this morning so going to see if there is something I can use safetly 'down there.' My husband doesn't even care if there is hair down there but it was a jungle down there LOL! I thought it would just be neater and cleaner. But i don't care anymore, I will take comfort and a jungle over trimming any day. Sorry for the graffic description but we are all adult here so I am sure we can handle it.

Got to go have a shower and go to my appointment, wish me luck!

there's actually this stuff on market that is cream in color called bump stopper. We found it for DH and I started to use it lightly when I got irritated as well.  Just takes a very light dab and I have used during preg. I'm using it in internally, so I didn't see an issue w/ it going where my pant lines are.  Also, when I put lotion on everyday, I put lotion all over and doing that seems to help when shaving the next time.

Where did you buy bum stopper LOL that sounds funny, sorry! Also what lotion did you use that is safe during pregnancy? I saw my OB today and I didn't tell her I shaved down there but I did say it was sore and irritated. She suggested canestine cream and I could use it 3 times a day of course i can't use that on my bum. I also found this stuff that is new from monistate to help with irritation from shaving, chafting etc it is a lotion that turns into a powder and acts as a barrier. I asked the pharmasist and she said it was safe for me to use. I have not used either yet and will probably start with the canestine just cause I do trust my OB more. If that doesn't work I will use the other stuff and see how that works.

Keep the suggestions coming, thanks!

I also used my husbands beard trimmer, does your DH's have an adjustable head on it?  Like can you adjust the length at which it cuts the hair?

Yes it does and we used that, it's just I think he went over it too much and make it too short. I have learnt my lesson though not to do it again as even sitting and definilty walking is very sore. He is very sorry he did it but I asked so it's not his fault. It's just a waiting game now for it to  grow back and hopefully one day it will not be so sore and irritated, I can hope anyways!

I have problems with razor burn, and yes that is what it is called even with an electric razor. I get irritated bumps anywhere I shave: pits, legs. If I use a new razor or a cheap one I end up with major issues. I think I am allergic to certain metals.
I am also allergic to other things and the creams and lotions always burn me, broken skin or not.
So, I am relegated to using things which I can use inside my body as well as outside. Coconut oil, cocoa butter, olive oil, Miracle 2 lotion. These are all safe during any time of life and there are no side effects, but you might want to stick with what your OB would give you. Just beware of the stinging that they can cause.
The baby powder idea is really good. I use cornstarch because the perfume in baby powder causes me to have a rash.
Unfortunately, my children also have the same allergies, so we all have to stay away from store-bought shampoos, conditioners, lotions, etc.
If you could just take it easy it would go away on its own, but all the chafing from walking is going to irritate it. Hope you find relief.

Oh yes I know the feeling! It should clear up really quickly. Interestingly, I only got it the first time I trimmed down there...but whether you want to try again in a week or so really depends how painful/itchy it was the first time round.

It's still sore and irritated but right now i am dealing with the flu so that has kind of over taken the sore and irritated feeling I feel down there. When I start to think about it more then I do notice it more and then it's a pain. Thanks for all the suggestions and comments. Anymore is welcome!
