So yesterday, it was Fort Hood -  we used to go to Fort Hood all the time for Air Shows and things when I lived in Texas.  I was talking to my friends that live in Kileen and Temple and Belton and they were telling me how scary everything was yesterday, and how traumatized everyone is.

Then today, we were at lunch when we found out we're on lockdown - someone walked into an office building in downtown Orlando and started shooting.  At this point we've heard it's 8 people shot, 4 dead, and the shooter is still at large.  This office building is MAYBE 5 miles away.  So we're on lockdown indefinitely - that means I could be here till midnight with these kids, since they can't go home until a parent comes to get them.

I just want to go get Julianne and get in my car and drive the hell out of this city.

What is the matter with these crazy people?? We were just talking about it the other day at work, before the shootings happened in Fort Hood, how can people take other people's lives like it's nothing? I can't even imagine what could possibly be going through their heads when they start pulling the trigger. I hope they catch the shooter down where you are so you can get to Juli safely! GL, keep us updated!

I know. It is so scary. We have been watching cartoons all day just because I can't bear to watch all this going on. It makes me sad for the next generation. If the world is like this now, I can't imagine how it will be then.

And Konnie, it seems like everyone in FL is losing their minds! Did you hear about that baby locked in a box under that womans bed. A 7 MONTH OLD!!! Locked in a 2ft x 3ft box for appr 12 HOURS!!! Makes me sick.....

I talked to my baby-sitter and they were advised not to leave their homes.  THe good news is that they found the shooter at his mother's house, which is on the other side of town, actually down the street from where my mother works, so her school was on lockdown too.  But they lifted our lockdown and the kids are gone, safe at home, thank goodness.  Now off to get Julianne and take her to the doctor because she's been tugging on her ear.  FABULOUS.

Rachel, that was about 40 minutes from my house.  I was following the story the whole time and there was a lot of stuff that they didn't say.  They ended up arresting the mom and the babysitter (who turned out to be the sil).

Konnie I agree, what the heck is wrong with people now days.  Sorry that you had to stay at school forever.

ugh, I heard on Nancy Grace that the mom was arrested too. That poor little baby. It literally made me ill to think about her in that box for so long! BUT I am glad she is alive!
