So i was just curious... how many words are your little ones saying?

I wrote down all the words Skye is saying and I think she says a lot.  And my intent with this post is not to make anyone feel bad that their little one is not saying enough or much -- I'm just genuinely curious because Cam was tongue-tied and did not talk until after 2. And heck, I'm sure we have some kiddos on here that are talking more than my girl too!

Also Skye may say a lot because she has an older sibling. Right now she says about 20 words (that I can remember/understand) but she does imitate some too when I am talking. She is starting to babble in "sentences" too. This is just such a fun age!

So, care to share about your little one's? :)

I've been wondering the same thing. She's my first LO, so everything is so new and exciting to me :) But she has been trying more and more words out. Some stuff is understandable, some stuff she makes the right sounds, but the word isn't understandable. She also makes animal noises (growls like a tiger, "uh uh's" like a dog (her version of woof woof)). I started teaching her to say no no to our pets (lol) and she shakes her finger up and down and says "no no". If I ask her a yes or no question, she can answer with a "des". She does the story telling thing, where she just babbles on with that look like she's being convincing. She does "day-to" when you hand her something. I wonder what everyone else's LO's are doing :) This is a fun topic!

At Macey's 1 year DA I was so worried because she wasn't really saying any words.  In the past three weeks she has exploded with her vocabulary.  I would say she has about 15 words that she knows well, and she has begun to copy almost everything we try to get her to say.  The thing we are working on right now is "please."  She will say please "pes" sometimes, but she doesn't really understand when to say it.  My favorite thing is when we read her one of her favorite books we pause and she fills in the word fish "ish."

Silas says Mama, Dada and Yum.. that is it.. he just has no interest in using them right now.. hes too busy trying to see what kind of shananigans he can get into with climbing.

Jenna only says a few words. She says mama, tata for daddy, yes, and ai for hi. I think that's about it. She babbles a lot but it is all just babble.

Devon says a lot of words! I think he was working on that while everyone was walking! ;)

He will try to repeat just about anything we try to get him to say. "Pumpkin" is a recent one. He says "all done" and "up" a lot. He also says "bubbles" and "Meow" to the kitties and one of our cat's names (Koko). Other ones we've heard him say recently are "book", "puff" "yes", "no" "blue" "red"and "mommy" and "daddy"  Oh yeah....and "avocado". That is the funniest one, because he pronounces it "Ah Ka Dooo" :)

Julianne never stops talking!  She is so verbal!  So far, she says:

Mama
Mom
Pap-Pap
Nana
Bo (any four legged furry animal, also her name for my parents' dog)
Kitty
Fishy
Birdy
Thank you
Ball
Book
Baby
Bubbles
Hot dog
Taco
Uh-oh
Hi
Hey
Ow
Yay
Bye-Bye
Dee (this means - See what I'm pointing at?  Give it to me RIGHT NOW!)
Cheese
No

She also babbles constantly.  There are other words she says that I can't quite understand yet.  And like some of the other babies, there are days when she barely speaks because all she wants to do is CLIMB things!

Alex just babbles mostly, but he says "dis" (this?) and "dat" (that?) when he points at things (maybe he's going to be a rapper!), and "mama" and "dada" but not much else that I can interpret. He is too busy climbing on things and exploring to talk much!

Tenley says dog and that's about it.  Like some of the others she is more interested in climbing than talking.  She babbles a lot but nothing is very coherent.  DH just asked me the other day when we start worrying about language development.  He was worried because he saw one of her playmates who talks A LOT.  She basically mimics anything her mom says to  her, it is pretty cool.  I'll be excited once Tenley starts communicating more, the pointing things is working well enough right now but I would rather her tell me she is done than throw her food on the floor or bang her cup.

Landon only says mama dada and he clears his throat to mimic me coughing. He thinks it's hilarious.

There are a few things Zach tries to say. I know he knows a lot of words but he isn't saying much. He says Bah for ball, he will tell the dogs no, mama, dada, uh oh, bubbles,  he has said hello a few times. A lot of times he will say a word once or twice and then I don't hear it again.

Elena really doesn't talk.  She babbles non-stop, but no real words.  She gets quite serious about her babbling sometimes.  It looks like she is giving a really intense speech!  She says mama and dada, but I'm still not sure she means it.  Although she did say mama to Eric all day yesterday when I was gone, so maybe she does get it.

I do worry about her at times.  She isn't walking or talking and won't take a sippy cup.  It makes me nervous that she is behind.
