Tattoos/piercings? : General Topics Zone

Lately I have found that when my DH Dirk and I are out with our daughter he gets a lot of looks,
I personally don't see why but we think most of the looks are because of his tattoos.
My Dirk has a few tattoos on his arms and one of a camera on his chest which you can see when he wears v-neck T-shirts which is what he usually wears.
The looks don't bother him he just shruggs it off and says " They don't know me, but they pass judgement.
I'm not who they think I am, even if I was, so what?".
It still bothers me when people stare, or scoff. I don't care if people stare at me when i'm out I ignore it, but they don't. So why him? I don't understand how people can be so rude and make the assumption that, just because he has tattoos or piercings he can't be a good dad. Dirk is a photographer, he works mostly with bands and artists, he used to travel with Warped Tour we still do just not to the extent that we used to, a lot of his/our friends are in bands, have tattoos and/or piercings but, what does that say about us as parents

i love tattoos as long as they have a meaning and arent tacky. im wanting to have a new one done for christmas and i know people are going to look at me like im crazy, but i dont care. i am going to have 2 cows done on my back. its a long story, but there is a lot of meaning behind it for me. so i dont care if people think im nuts.

I know what you mean! It burns me up when people look at me or my friends differently because we are tattooed/pierced. I just got a new tattoo for the two miscarriages I had and it means a lot to me. It is a symbol of strength for me and has helped me heal. It is hard to believe that in this day and age people are still so closed minded.
