As a teacher I know that my classes will cycle between good and bad....Well this year is bad.
I have a full class of 20 4yr olds but 12 boys and 8 girls which makes it so much harder.  I have already kicked one out of prek b/c he couldn't handle the social aspects.  Next they pull my aide that I have been with for4 years!  She is now in another class but at least she is with a friend of mine but it's just not the same.  So I am left with my Head Start teacher whos fine but she has been out a lot this year b/c her kids have been sick (both boys have the H1N1 swine flu).  To top things off they gave me a student that another teacher could not handle thinking that we could whip him into shape>>>>Really, thanks but no thanks.  So after I dragged him to the office today kicking me, pushing others, throwing his shoe, biting the assist. princp. and spitting I got him kicked out as well.
Add on top of that all of my master's class homework (6 pg paper due wed, I have done 1.5 pg) I feel a little overwhelmed.
If you made it this far, thanks!!  All that said I am around, reading daily but not always having time to post...Hopefully things can get back on track and settle down soon.

Oh man, you just listed the very reasons I could not teach!  I can barely deal with one child who wants to have temper tantrums, let alone 20 of them.  Hope fully the year gets easier and you don't get any more extra problem children.

Kudos to you!  I was in a four year old classroom for years and then did fours and afterschoolers and let me tell you, it was so hard.  Reading your story brings back memories.  Just remember, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel, this is temporary and things WILL get better.   Sending you big hugs ~Allison

that is the reason I have "Your Child is violent or disruptive to my program" as a reason for termination of contract for my daycare!!!  Children who are out of control are just too much.. they most likely need a one on one program or to stay at home!

Oh yikes! that just scared me, ashlynn has been being so bad at preschool, not sharing and hitting and continually getting put on the thinking chair! I dont know what to do and I am so afraid she is going to get kicked out!
