Has anyone tied their tubes when you had your c-section or know about it.  I think i'm having another c-section (this would be #2), and I am thinking of getting my tubes tied.  The OB said she could do it at the same time, but I was just wounding about the pain and recovering.  Is there anymore pain then we are already in or you dont even notice that they tide the tubes?

Well all, I am a mommy to five and one on the way. After baby number 4 i got on the Ortha Evra Patch and got preggo with my now 3 year old daughter, very unplanned but very loved and now cant imagine life without her. After my scheduled c section with her in Fb 2006 I had my tubes tied, we really couldnt afford another unplanned pregnancy me and hubby both work full time.! Okay, I am 34 years old and in June I stop having my periods, well  at first I wasnt worried because my tubes were tied. Well after 3 months of no period I got nervous but it couldn't be, I took a preggo test and NEGATIVE. Still no period, I was losing weight nauseated and getting scared. I have a high risk of cancer in my family lost my mommy to cancer in 2005 at 48 years old. So I had my doc order a vaginal ultrasound I knew something wasnt right (I am a nurse) and a mommy of 5 so i kinda know  a lil something. I had the ULTRASOUND and I was 13 weeks preggo, must have been a faulty pregnancy test or something, I guess being pregnant was the last thing on my mind so I did not question it. I count this baby as a bleesing from GOD, even though its going to be a harder struggle we can make it, we always have.  After this baby we are going for the PERMANENT sterilization tubal removal and a vasectomy for hubby. If a baby makes it through that... I WANT my own tv show LOL! I would not recommend it getting a tubiligation and C section at the same time ladies. First of all I got Pregnant Again after my tubal, my doc left a loop in one of my tubes which allowed me to get preggo. Guess he had too much going on at one time with delivering the baby and all. Also I developed a bad infection (sepsis) from being left open too long and end back up in the hospital for another week following the Csection/ Tubiligation. I say get it done seperately that way they are concentrating on one thing at a time.  Good  luck to all REGARDLESS and god bless.

like i said above, i'm having a repeat c/section in april and getting my tubes tied as well.  i asked about the "fail" rate and i've just decided that like you, if one sneaks in some how, we will just consider it a blessing and God's plan :)   i asked how much longer surgery would take adding the tubal and he said all of less than a minute.  so maybe this doctor does it differently then when you had it done prior.  either way, i'm so sorry you had so many complications from it (infection and whatnot).

more to the op - after talking it over with my doctor, i've decided taht getting it done at the same time is the way to go.  he said he hears that it hurts differently not really more or less if that makes sense.  my big thing is that i dont' want to be on b/c anymore, we are done having children after this one, and i don't have an option of taking time off from work to recover twice so having it done at the same time just makes sense for me and my family.
