Just found you guys

I am 37 and pregnant with my 4th child...I have an 11 year old son and a 9 and just turned 3 year old daughters. I am 14 weeks along...second trimester...woo hoo! I just told my other kids 3 days ago and am mailing out my Christmas cards today to share the news with everyone else.

I do have one question I wanted to run by you guys...those over 35 how many of you took the NT scan and had false positives? I was told to avoid taking the test because of my age and it most likely giving me those results...so I figured WHY add more stress?! So I didn't. The only reason I would want to take it was to get to see the little one more. But I only have 5.5 more weeks to wait until the "big u/s"...so I guess it's not that bad.

Congratulations and welcome. I will be 35 when I have my Gummy Bear. I did do the test mainly for the extra view. I went into it knowing that it has a high false postive so I told myself that no matter what the results were I would not stress about it. Now my results came back very good and I am glad I did it. However I think you are too far along for the NT scan you have to be between 11 and 13 weeks is what I was told. Or at least here that is when they do it. Good luck.

Welcome and congrats on your pregnancy!

I just turned 38, and had babies 2 and 3 one month before my birthday. I had the NT scan done just for 1) peace of mind and 2) help me prepare if needed. Plus I wanted to avoid an amnio or CVS. And even though there are false positives, and does not give you a 100% answer, I still wanted to have at least my risk level assessed to determine if I should go forward with more invasive testing like amnio or CVS.



As previous poster mentioned, you may have already missed the window to do the NT scan since you are already in your 2nd tri.

Welcome! I am glad you joined us! I am 42 and pregnant with my 3rd child. I have a 19 year old son and 2 year old son.

I chose to have the integrated screen so that I could prepare for a little one with any special needs at birth. I plan to have another out-of-hospital-birth and it is important for me to know that this little baby can handle that. All went very well with our results, so we are going forward with the birth center.
