I am trying to finish up my registries because my mom is sending out shower invitation soon and am looking for recommendations on baby monitors. There are so many to choose from: ones with video, ones without, and so many reviews that I was hoping some of you who are not first timers (or first timers that have already picked out) could help with suggestions!

We are actually registered for 2... the first one is just the sound one called Sony - 900mhz Nursery Monitor and Receiver $30.82 friends of ours had it and really liked it...Well last night we went to another new moms house and she suggested the Angelcare - Deluxe Movement Sensor with Sound Monitor $86.87 so I put it on the registry it has a motion sensor and tells you if no movement has been picked up in 20 seconds and it can detect the slightest movement I guess... she said she loves it and sleeps SO much better after having that instead of a normal monitor so ? Just depends on how comfortable you are when the baby sleeps but there are some suggestions for ya :)

I would recommend the Angelcare Movement Monitor over and over and over again. I cannot say enough about the peace of mind it brought to me.

Once both our girls are in the same room (Colbie will be rooming with us for awhile), we will probably get a Summer video monitor - the one you can add extra cameras too - so we can keep an eye on both girlies.

I registered for some vtech standard monitors and got them, they had the best reviews on Target of the non video ones. It comes with two parental controls and a light sensor. I tend to just go with the basic ones, and they have worked great in the past! My only concern with the video ones is that in the past they were huge fire hazards, something to google. I probably would like the angelcare one too, except that from previous reviews ( when I was pg last time or the time before 7-10 yrs ago) they had a history of false alarms and beeping even if baby was fine and scaring the heck out of parents! I have anxiety disorder, the last thing I need is something else scaring me lol. But if they are working better now then go for it! Good luck, Shannon

I was concerned about the false alarms, too. It RARELY happened before she was 6 months old. It happened a few times once she started moving around her crib and ended up all the way in a corner. We stopped using it around 10 months but even with the handful of false alarms, it still gave me so much peace that a couple of mini-heart attacks were totally worth it! Plus, my husband is a sleep walker and it would have alerted me if he had ever picked her up in his sleep. I can't say enough good things about it!
