I have two month old twins and have survived breastfeeding so far. Currently, I nurse them both at the same time using the football hold. I can see how this may get more difficult to do as they get bigger. Does anyone have tips for nursing the babies as they get bigger? Is it easier to nurse one first and then nurse the second? I want to try to avoid one screaming while I nurse the first and make him/her wait.

what has worked best for you?

A few friends of mine have nursed their twins at the same time and then switched to one at a time. Try and feed them before they are at the hungry beyond belief stage LOL
Also, I know she would switch and say baby A gets first one time and then Baby B would get first the next time. Maybe you can switch it to laying down on your back too. As they get more head control and want to climb a bit, this may help. GL

I have no experience with this. But do you use a pillow? I remember someone talking about a huge breastfeeding one that is more like a box shape than circle/oval. I could definately see how it will get harder.

YOu are doing SO amazing!! :)

Pulling this out of the air because I have no experience with breastfeeding twins either (though I did pump milk for twins when I was a surrogate), but hopefully as they grow bigger they will get big enough to be propped into a sitting position, so they will still be basically in the football hold position except that instead of you holding them in your arm they will be sitting next to you propped up with a pillow (until they are old enough to sit up on their own.

I have no personal experience. Here's some links from Kellymom

You could also talk with a lactation consultant. Good luck--I'm sure that is tricky!!

Thanks all for the comments and links. I am almost at the 3 month mark, and things are going well still :) :). I go back to work in 10 days and I am really nervous this time around.

I also had a nurse home visit yesterday and I found out that our local WIC office can have a lactation consultant come to my house, even if I am not receiving WIC benefits. I think I will try that so they can help me try different positions and keep breastfeeding when the babies get bigger and it is harder to nurse them at the same time.
