Ok so I was walking home the other day and I imagined a sibset Reebok and Adidas.....(both boys) now I quite like the idea of Adidas..... it's very similar to a little boys name in Jez' class.... I appreciate it's more a GP name and have added it to my list.

I wondered what your new n old GPs are.....

ha ha. Nike is my guilty pleasure shoe name.

A name that's really been growing on me is Beryl. I'm not sure it's usable yet, and I guess I feel when I think of liking it, that most people would not, so that makes it a guilty pleasure. I like a lot of place names that aren't ever really used as first names: Damascus, Seattle, Russia, that really, I figure are total gps because I couldn't ever really imagine using them. I like a lot of old names that just would not work nowadays. Hildegarde for instance. One of my boy gps is Horatio, but also Horace. Some names too associated w/ certain things, like Godiva. Some boy names on girls: Sinclaire, Reide.

I have a few. For girls Valentina, Golden (yes, I can't remember where I heard it, but it seemed to be cute and make sense at the time) and Penelope.

Garcia, Shadow, Seamus, and Valentino for boys.

I went to college with a Horace. I was an RA, and when I got my resident list, I saw the name and thought "Yuck!! Wonder what he likes to be called?" Answer: Horace. Craziness!! But, as I got to know him, the name grew on me, and I realized that if anyone could make Horace work, it was him. He was just cool. Not over the top, trying too hard cool... just low profile "Im cool because Im not too cool." KWIM? lol

LOL, I forgot to mention this, but a few nights ago I had a dream about a baby name game. Me and an old friend were going through a high school yearbook and had to choose which name we liked best out of the two adjoining names. The first two were Odyssey (a girl) and Sarah. I said, to my surprise, "I like Odyssey, even though it is usually a boy's name." (Odyssey was a girl in the yearbook), but it was very appealing to me in the dream!

I have never heard (or thought about) Odyssey for either sex in real life. But, I was very adamant about it being a boy name in my dream. WDYT? As a GP, more boy or girl?

cool. In an ideal world my child would be surrounded by peers and adults in every venue who heard Horace and either thought 'awesome, love ancient Greek literature, especially that guy' or 'Egyptian sun god/falcon, eye of Horus, about as cool as it gets' or even 'my great uncle Horace was the nicest man. And dashing in those WWI photos.' or possibly "Horace, Calliope, Perseus, and Proserpina, best sibset ever."

that was for Odyssey, looks like I edited too much!

I think of Odysseus and Ulysses for a boy, but odyssey to me is a word. However, I think I do like it as a name. I like it on a boy or a girl and don't really see it as more one than the other. Odysseus and Ulysses are just boy names to me. I knew a Ulisia though (you liss ee uh). She was Australian.
