On Saturday I went back to the hospital for my follow up u/s and my friend went with me again. My lining was 8mm!! and I had an 18mm follicle - large enough to trigger so I took that Saturday night and had the IUI this morning.
I did a few things differently this time. One hour before the IUI, I took a valium (2mg) pill. Some REs give it to patients who do IUI or IVF (at the embryo transfer) to relax the uterus and keep it from cramping. The drug is out of the system within a few hours so it doesn't interfere with implantation. I talked to my doctor about it and he said it couldn't hurt.
My Fertile Soul consultation gave me more advice on improving my chances with the procedure which I tried this time. I listened to a meditation/visualization recording on my phone after the IUI, and they recommend acupuncture BEFORE and AFTER the IUI but if that's not an option they say after is more important than before. So, after the IUI I took a taxi straight to my acupuncturist. She was really awesome. She reassured me that everything was ok and helped me to relax.
DH dropped a bomb on me last week - he has a job opportunity in Shanghai! and he will be going there in a few weeks, so it's pretty serious. We may actually MOVE there!! I had my fears/doubts/added stress about a big move like that but my acupuncturist has lived there, loved it, and convinced me to think about it as one big fun adventure and said I would love it there...I feel better now and am really looking forward to going there and checking it out. But first...let's get pregnant
