I am 20 years old expecting my first child and my EDD is 01/31/13. I'm very scared especially to go into labor! Just would like some heads up or pointers to be practicing now before I get to the end of my pregnancy and be unprepared!

Just wanted to say welcome! I am a FTM too, so I don't have any pointers, but wanted to say congrats on your pregnancy and glad to have you on our board.

Welcome and congrats. I would recommend going to a childbirth class at your hospital. They can better prepare you for whatever you might go thru.

I would either do a lot of reading about labour and practice on your own the breathing at home there are videos that show you. Also start doing kegals excersizes at about 15 weeks along everyday. Stay fit only gain 35 pounds or less this helps.or you can go to a class for birthing. I chose not to do a class I love reading and learning. We also live thirty minutes from town and when we had our first there was a tight budget. With my first i was 19 and we had been married for 1 year. I was in labour for about 18 hours but it wasn't bad I get an epidural with mine which isn't bad getting at all and I'm a needle fainter I hate needles but it's almost painless after the numbing and is over quick. Pushing and breathing are so important. You have to know how to do these to thing correctly for things to go quicker. I hope this helps some. After a little bit of pain you get an amazing blessing your little one! This is our third with my second I labored for 5 hours and only pushed for 10 min. You will do great n we are here to help.

Congrats on your pregnancy! I agree with the advice others gave you. I would also add that labor and delivery nurses are awesome and will tell you what to do during labor and pushing.

Welcome! I would say read books. "What to Expect When You're Expecting" is a good one.

Congrats and welcome. I would say enjoy this special time while it lasts as you soon forget the icky parts! I just went with the flow on my first not knowing or wanting to know too much, but I have to say my second pregnancy I really enjoyed knowing exactly what was coming afterwards, what a treat!

This is my first pregnancy as well. I'm 21 and will be 22 when I deliver. My fiance and I are soooooooo excited but I am weary of what lies ahead. Just trying to breathe and take it one step at a time.

14 Weeks and counting =)

I would have to say the best pointer I can give is to believe in yourself. I am pregnant with my second and hoping things go a lot smoother this time around. With my first I was 25, and okay until my water broke. At that point I realized that my baby boy had to come out one way or another and I freaked. My blood pressure sky rocketed causing my birth plan to be abandoned.

You can do this, our bodies were made for this. Believe that you can do this! The silly thing is that women all around the world are doing this every minute in all sorts of different environments and ways.

I am due Feb. 3rd but if my first DS is any indication (9 days early), I am hoping to go in January. I know what to expect now and that my body performed like a rockstar with my son, so I am hopeful that this second baby will be a breeze.
