So I've been having leg cramps at night and they are getting much worse! Keeping me awake/uncomfortable as much as all the night time bathroom visits and big belly! Anyone have any suggestions to help relieve these or prevent them from occuring? Thanks! :)

I get them as well. However, mine are so bad that I wake up and need to scream into a pillow from the extreme pain :( I've been babying my leg all stinking day because it IS STILL SORE!! GRRR....

My MW suggested upping my Calcium intake by a lot. I mean my liquid cal/mag suggests only taking 1 tablespoon per day my MW told me to take 4 tablespoons twice a day! When I was being more diligent about it my legs didn't bother me so much but since I've been slacking my legs begin to hurt again :(

Supposedly eating bananas is supposed to help. I think it's the potassium but I could be wrong on the nutrient you need, lol! I hate bananas so I have no idea if it helps, but I have read it is supposed to. I get them too.....have with every pregnancy, they just started this week for me. I just have to get up and stretch my leg and work it out. With my last pg's I would jump out of bed and jog because it would hurt so bad and I had to get it worked out like right then, lol! My DH would laugh at me!

I also get them with every pregnancy and they are so painful! I sit straight up in bed ready to scream and I start flexing and rubbing my calf. I haven't had one yet (knock on wood), but it's only a matter of time. I've also heard that a banana a day is supposed to help so maybe there's some truth to that.

everyone tells me to drink more water because it means u could be dehydrated, although i know they are common in pregnancy so idk if it would be the same or not. i also heard eating bananas help to.

Several ladies in my yoga class have been complaining of them. I think the suggestions to drink water are a good idea always, but beyond that:

1. Try a few minutes of stretching your calves every night before you sleep. Stretch with one leg behind you while you place your other food and hands against a wall. The runner's stretch.

2. One woman I talked to said the only thing she could do when they happened was to immediately get up and walk around. She said it hurt at the start, but was the only way for her to alleviate the pain. You may find it different than than, but it's a start!

I too have experienced these in my last pregnancy. I found what helped me was eating bananas and eating yougurt. Things high in potassium. Hope this helps you and good luck!!
