Okay, so this is an idea I came up with maybe less than a year ago, but I had mentioned to my mother that they (my parents) could've named me after them by doing something like Charlie Ann. My dad is Charles Allen and my mum is Julia Ann (however, the L in Julia is kinda silent. It's prn like "ju-ya"). Anyway, I actually liked the concept of using Charlie Ann for a girl to honour them. I don't know if I'd ever use it, but it's always a possibility. Then I got to thinking and tried making a girl name to honour DF's parents: Rex Allen and Kathryn Nan. I came up with Nancy Allyn, which is okay to me. WDYT?

Also, what would you come up with to honour your parents or DH/SO's parents??

Charlie Ann is cute but I think I prefer Charlotte Annabel nn Charlie better. I'm not a fan of Nancy but Nanette is cute. Nanette Allena nn Nancy or Allena Nanette would be lovely.

I like Charlie Ann, cute. Charlotte also works to honor Charles or Julian as a boy name to honor Julia. Lots of options with those names. Nancy Allen is cute (I don't like the y, obviously).

I guess I could do Linda Rachel to honor my parents (dad is Russel Ray and mom is Linda) but I'm not crazy about Rachel. Selah could honor Russel or Lindsey or Melinda could honor Linda. Or Madeleine, I suppose (Madelin would preserve the spelling but that is just ugly to me, the sound is enough). But I think Russel works well enough as a middle name for a girl. Madeleine Russel. Maybe Rust? Madeleine Rust

I personally don't like Allen or Allyn for a girl, but I've seen Allyn on girls so I know it works. But Allen is all boy to me. Allyn at least looks girly to me. :P

My parents are Jeri Lynn and Edward Albert. My sister isnt named after either, but obviously I am, and my brother is Allan Mack (mom's maiden name). Allan is a smoosh of Albert and Lynn. :)

My boy twin names (before we knew the genders of S&S) were Aaron Mack, and Avery Edward. That honors both of my parents. I cant think of any names that I could form using parts of each of their names, though.

My SO's parents are Al.vin Emma.nuel and Sher.ry Ly.nn... I guess there could be another Allan (Alvin+Lynn), which would honor SO's parents, and my brother. Ive always liked the name Vince, which could do double duty again, honoring Alvin, and my Uncle Vincent/Vinnie, who died this summer.

Your parents are pretty easy IMO - because both your dads have the MN Allen, you could use Allen or Alena to honor both of them, and since Ann and Nan are forms of the same name, any Anne variant could honor both your mothers. Also, Ananda is a beautiful Sanskrit name that has "Ann" and "Nan" in it (and was my fave girl name for like 5 years).

I don't have an SO, so for my parents: My dad is Pa.ul Lin.coln - I would def use Lincoln as a MN after him, or possibly Paulus. My mom is We.ndy Anne - I've thought of Wynne or Dyanne for her, but don't love them with any of my faves. But, she does have Anne in her name, which makes it kind of easy IMO. Right now I have Vivianne topping my MN list, for her and my grandma, Vivian.

*ETA - Ah, so one name after both my parents. Got it. I'd use... Jonas Lincoln (Jonas is one letter off from my mom's LN) or Linnea Vivianne (from Lincoln).

you could do Emmaline (or Emmeline) for Emmanuel and Lyn (emma + lynn, but prn. it like Emma line)

DF's parents: Rex Allen and Kathryn Nan. I came up with Nancy Allyn, which is okay to me. WDYT? I think it works, I'm not loving Allyn on a girl. I saw the spelling Allene from a name website. I though of Kate in there for Kathryn or maybe even Kat.

Also, what would you come up with to honour your parents or DH/SO's parents??

My mom doesn't have a mn, I don't know why. So to honour her I'm using either Victoria or Asha from V.ashti.

SO: Althea Suzanne & Derrick Robert - I can't think of anything as I don't love any of these names but maybe Alia Anne for a girl.

Love the suggestion of Ananda for you - it just seems to fit you, imo! Charlize might be a pretty option to honor Charles. Also love Julian for Julia.

I've though of using Robyn for my dad, Robert, or Michaela for DH's dad Michael. Moms are harder for me...Kathleen and Deborah.

I;m having brain issues this afternoon though, so honoring 2 people in 1 combo is just not working for me now!

Charlie-Ann is nice, I'm just wondering if you'd call her by both names or just Charlie? I'm not sure Charlie ages well.... maybe Charlotte Ann nn Charlie? or there's maybe Charlotte June?

I really like Nancy Allyn as a name and for honouring his parents.... am thinking possibly Nathan Lennox for a boy????

I love my mums middle name and I have it as a combo with my g-mas middle name.. the combo Marcella Grace....
As for honouring both parents in 1 (Mar,t,in + Suz,ann,e) ... Martina Suzette, Suzanna Martine, Marcy Marina

I love Jocelyn's suggestions for you!
Charlie is nmsaa on a nmsaa on a girl, and while I do like Nancy, I'm not so keen on it with Allyn and seeing as Nancy was a boy's name, the whole thing seems too dated-masculine to me.
I think Alena would be great though, and an Ann-name.
Ooh! Or Allia! Allen + Julia

The other day I was having thoughts of using my grandparents' names. I'd been watching home movies with my family and it hit me pretty hard how much I miss them. Their names were Amos and Vivian, and I have no idea how I'd combine those, but I'd use them separately as mns, I think.

My parents are Steven and Lynn... um, I'm not sure how I'd combine those at all, haha. I think Linnea would work for Lynn, and maybe Seren for Steven. Seren Linnea is actually pretty awesome.

My (maternal) grandparents are Michael and Ericka, and I think maybe Merick would work to combine them.

my brother and my dad are both Eric (brother is Eric Alan, dad is Virgial Eric, both go by Eric) and my mom is Joyce Elaine. i like the idea of Erica Joy, which would incorporate Eric and Joyce in a girl's name. for a boy, i think we are going to use Eric as a mn.

:)
