We plan on telling our kids about the baby next week and we just don't know how! Does anyone have any creative/fun ideas? I think someone on here did baby bottles full of candy? Their ages are 4, 7, 7, and 11 (one mine, 3 his). This will be our first baby together. And do we say, "You're all going to have a little brother or sister this spring!" or "I'm having a baby!" or what? And should I tell them or let SO tell (we will all sit down together, but who does the most talking)? I know there is no right or wrong way and they will be so excited regardless, but just wondering what you ladies would do if it were you!

I did gift bags from the Stork aka "the pretty bird" with candy filled bottles and a poem announcing the sibling. All based upon my 5 year old's theory of how a mom "gets a baby in her tummy." I think it all depends on your kids personally but you could take them to a pumpkin patch and tell them each kiddo gets a pumpkin. Once they all pick theirs, you could tell them to grab one more. See how long it takes them to catch on. Or another idea since there are 4 of them would be to get them each a small gift to be used on the baby. A onesie, bottle, pacifier, pack of wipes, etc... Wrap them up with a card that says to be used in April. When they look around and see that they all got stuff for a baby they will probably guess. There's also the meal of all "baby" foods (baby back ribs, baby carrotts, etc...)

That's all I have for now. Let us know what you decide!

I love the idea for the pumpkin patch or buying gifts for the baby to be used in April and then in April have the baby give each of them a little gift back.

When we told our boys (then 11 and 5) about #3, we took them to a special restaurant to tell them the news. Now everytime we go back they reminisce about the experience.

I have two little girls and they have bee. Talking bout wanting a baby for a while. I have an ultrasound done last week and I showed it to my 7 year old and asked her if she knew what it was. When she said no I explained where the head was and she immediately said she wants a boy. My 4 year old said no brothers allowed. Need-less to say they are excited.

I've always loved the idea of sitting them down for a picture and then instead of "Say Cheese" say something like, "We're going to have a baby" or something. I really wanted to do that this time but it didn't work out. I love the idea cause you have the pic of their reactions. This time we just wrapped up a couple of pairs of baby slippers and gave them to each of our older girls to open (and we video taped it).
