Baby girl named Hashtag?!

This is more just a rant than anything else. I saw an article today about a woman that named her little girl Hashtag, after the # symbol used on Twitter.
The article also mentioned another couple that named their little girl Like, after the "like" button on Facebook.
And, of course, lets not forget about the couple that just used @ as their child's name.

Surely I'm not the only one disturbed by this?!

I saw the story about baby "Hashtag" on my morning news the other day... It left me speechless. My honest opinion: the parents are attention-starved. This isn't someone just being creative or unique... It's someone saying "Hey, look what I just named my kid! Now give me 15 mins of fame for my ridiculousness!" Sad.

I know I should try not to say anything if I have nothing nice to say but I can't. How stupid do you have to be to name your child Hashtag, no seriously, how does one even think this is a name. Ughh!

I saw the same article but then there was speculation over a publicity stunt as the surname was a brand of whisky....
I thought an Egyptian family named their daughter "Facebook" not "like" though maybe there's both....
I'm thinking at least a "thumbs up" symbol is easy for "like", the "#" symbol isn't too hard to draw for a signature and we all know what "fb" stands for, though might not be the same when they're are age!
