I found this really interesting as I have never heard of this before!

While surfing the web for information on TTC while nursing I came across a few sites stating that women who TTC while nursing are 9 times more likely to conceive twins !!
Has anybody heard of this theory before?

Im a little excited, I wouldn't mind having some twins lol :)

Yes, I have heard it. It is because it is hard to get preggo without having your cycles, and then sometimes the egg do come out and more than 1.

1 in 1000 births is a twin. Also, you have more of a chance if the mother's family had twins.

Twins increase when you have more children, are overweight, and are more advanced age. If you eat sweet potatoes and yams for some reason it increases the chance too.
The highest twins are in South Africa and this is their diet. So they think it is connected. Thats wahy I have found out about it over the years.

Wow, all of this info is very interesting! I wouldn't mind having twins at all! My mom is a twin (I am just as close to my mom's twin as I am my mom) and being pregnant w/twins before I know it is already very likely for me. Thanks for sharing! :)

I read about the study in Africa too. It's the white (African) yams that they eat which have the estrogen effect, not the orange sweet potatoes. You can buy white yam 'flour' at a health food store and add it to a cookie recipe in place of a quarter of the regular flour used in the recipe. Or add 1 tablespoon per serving to soup. Or take wild yam pills. Hope to see a few sets of twins from this board! Good luck Ladies :)
