Do you color your hair?

Will you color while pregnant?

I usually highlight, and right now I have about 3-inch roots. It's horiffic!!

also mommy to 2 boys 7/2008 & 12/2010!

I need to get mine colored again it's been a while, waiting till I make it out of the first trimester. It always makes me feel better to get my hair cut n colored so I can't wait! I don't see any harm, I did it when I was pregnant with my girls.

I'll be coloring mine. My roots are bad! I was waiting until I got out of the first trimester too.

I plan on doing mine soon. When you get foil color done it does'nt get applied to your scalp so it won't soak into your skin.

I do highlights and low lights with my hair and I've done it once since I found out I was pregnant this time. I continued to color my hair throughout my previous pregnancy, even asked my dr about it and she said that it was no problem. If I don't keep up my color then my gray starts to come through, thanks to my mom's side for the gray hair that I started finding when I was 24!!!

i have colored both pregnancies, but foils only -- nothing that touches the scalp! I'm really getting antsy this time. I was due for a root touch up the day before i got my BFP. I'm so self conscious I don't even want to leave the house. I'm literally hiding from people

I do foils only also and I just get paranoid about the ammonia fumes from the highlights. My hair stylist this time around is in a different salon and the ventilation is much better. I didn't even notice the smell last month when I got my hair done.
I hear ya though about being self conscious when leaving the house, when it comes to the point where I'm a week or 2 away from my appt I feel the same way!!! lol.

I color my hair but I am making my next appointment as soon as i am through week 13. My roots are showing due to a freakish hair growth spurt during preg.

I color my hair and asked my doc before and she said yes its totally fine. I use foils too!

This is actually the first time in my [teenage/adult] life I won't have some sort of color in my hair. I'm just going to pluck the grays. Hey, what about shoe polish??

Ahh. I've been wondering about this. I've heard so many different opions on this.
I said I'll let these roots grow out .. but I want my hair done before maternitypictures ! C'mon nobody wants bad roots in pictures .. LOL !

I colored my hair about 3 weeks ago, doc said it was totally fine as long as the salon is ventilated. I wouldn't worry too much about it!!

I have been wondering if it was ok too. I color my hair- I actully have no idea what my natural color is! ha ha. And I have horrific roots. Its nice to hear that others color without problems. I think I'll make an appointment!

I use to be a hair stylist before marriage and kids. I got my roots touched up but i do all over color and it was fine i was also in the 2nd trimester. Its totally safe when your in a well ventilated area

I don't - but with the newer products and ventilated salons, there's not a lot of risk anymore. Years and years ago, they were much more toxic - to skin and to our lungs. It's safer now

My dr told me the only reason not to dye your hair would be due to extra oil in your hair it might nit take. That and the smell but its a myth that the dye sinks in to your skin and can effect the baby. So no worries ladys its fine and for going to a salon try to go early to avoid too much fumes.
