Hospital pre-registration!

Have you all pre-registered at your hospital? Most want you to do it BY 28 weeks and I hadn't done it yet, so I went and did it today! It was so weird to fill out the paper work for her birth certificate. It asked for her birthday, weight, length, etc and of course I was had to leave it blank, but it does make me wonder when and what those numbers will be

I wasn't even told you had to pre register. I had no clue. lol I guess I should ask my doctor about it and see when I should do that. I know he encouraged me to take the tour which I wanna do soon.

You don't have to pre-register, but it does make the whole process a LOT easier...and quicker...on D-day. I pre-registered for my first and we didn't have any paperwork to fill out when we got there. They just took us to observation, we waited around, signed a couple admittance forms saying they'd be keeping me, and then it was game on!
**If you don't pre-register you have to register before you can even go on to observation. (Unless you're OBVIOUSLY in advanced stages of labor; in that case your husband will fill out paperwork while they take you to labor and delivery. I wouldn't recommend this route. Some women have babies without their husbands because they're filling out paperwork.)

I find it a BIG joke at my current hospital. We did the tour thing (new hospital, I had no idea where to go) and pre-registered both written and orally(they called me on the phone). So when the big day came...we were in the vehicle on our way there (25 minute drive)...we called to let them know I was on my way and they went about asking all those questions...again! I was like I did all of this already! Then we get to the hospital and we walk into labor and delivery and they seriously asked "Can we help you?" and I said "I just called I am here to deliver my baby! (duh?)" They looked at each other, well we didn't get that call and just looked at each other like they didn't know what to do! I looked at my husband and said "I am either going to sit down or let's go someplace else because this is ridiculous!" Then they escorted me into a room and once they realized how progressed I was they were running around like chickens with their heads cut off.

I started my baby class and did the tour of the hospital. During the tour they gave me a one page form to fill out that included my insurance info and some other stuff. It did not have anything about baby though. I hope that I don't have to fill all of that out once I get there. Ivey your place seems like they have their act together. Jessica, I would have been super annoyed if I were you.

You ladies have made me realize I need to sign up for classes! Our hospital only does classes on Tuesday nights so I have to wait until hubby is done his bowling league for us to go. He should be done in April.

We do our pre-registration and tour on the same day, which for us, is June 8th. Our hospital recommends completing this during our last month of pregnancy. We start classes next month though!

Jessica, that is awful!! We called the last time we went in and they had the guard at the door to open it for us when we got there (your normally have to push a buzz button) and walked straight into a room.

Lia, some hospitals don't make you do this, when I had my first kid in Alabama they didn't make us do this at all. It was insurance stuff and then at the hospital it was birth certificate stuff.

I didn't register beforehand with DD & they took me straight back when I got there. My water broke at home at 1:15am & she was born at 12:43 that afternoon... hope this time is that easy
