I haven't read the other replies yet, but I am a firm believer of being against aspertame. About a year and a half ago, I had lost 75 lbs in 6 months from diet and excercise. I slowly fell off the wagon and started drinking soda again, but drank diet soda. About 8 months later, I collapsed to the floor in front of my 13 year old. I went to the hospital, they ran tests and told me to follow up with a neurologist. I had an EEG done in office, came back abnormal. Then they set me up to do a 72 hours EEG at home. That also came back abnormal. I was then put on medicine with epilepsy. The medicine didn't seem to help at all. I had terrible dizzy and light headed spells. Someone mentioned the aspertame side effects to me. I did my research and couldn't believe how many of the side effects I had. I stopped drinking the diet soda (have a coke with dinner if we're out), but drink water all day now. I no longer need the epilepsy medication and the dizzy & lightheaded spells have vanished. I wouldn't ever believe that diet soda would have those effects on me, but it did. I'm glad that I figured out what was wrong with me before the Dr took my license away. It really is a scary thing to deal with. I don't think I would knock her for drinking it because she's pg, but if she starts having any weird side effects, I'd def mention the aspertame issue to her.
