Hey Ladies,

This is my very first pregnancy, so please forgive me if this comes off as a stupid question. My gyn just confirmed for me this morning that I am 7 weeks pregnant. Unfortunately, there are no OB's in that office, so I have to find one elsewhere. My fiance and I just moved to GA a couple of months ago, and I have no clue where to start. My fiance and I both work 30-45 min away from home. There are OB's about 15-20 min from our offices. I just have no clue where to start, and if it's better to find someone closer to our work, or go with someone near our home.

Hello ashlaine83 and welcome to BabyZone! Congratulations also on your baby news. :)

Hot Topics is a debate board and might not give you the replies you are hoping for. Might I suggest our Pregnancy in General - pregnancy-in-general-f416.html or our Due Date Clubs - due-date-clubs-f1018.html.

If it were me I would talk to co-workers and/or friends to see if they have an OB they would recommend or do a google search.

Best wishes,

Pia

If you like and trust your gyn, you could also ask them for recommendations. Since they don't have any OBs in their office, this is probably a question they get asked a lot.

I would personally pick closer to home. Also keep in mind what hospital you want to deliver at. Will you want to deliver at a hospital closer to your house or closer to your work?

My advice would be to find an OB that's affiliated with a hospital you'd like to deliver at, rather than focusing on where they are in relation to home or the office. I drive 30 minutes to see the doctor because they're affiliated with the hospital I want to deliver at.

But you should also take into consideration what their policies are and whether those will work for you. If I could do it over I'd pick a different OB because of how they're treating me at the end of my pregnancy. Next time I want to know their policies on inducing before I decide, because it has been a nightmare just being allowed to even go a day overdue. They automatically wanted to hook me up to pitocin and I'm not okay with that!
I thought I'd start a blog about my life but all I talk about are babies and cake. Actually, that sounds about right.

Im having m 3rd child and when I got pregnant with my first I didnt know where to start but I did look in the local phone book & online and looked at the reviews other some local OB personally I think its better to find one closer to home but it would be helpful to try & decide on what hospital you want to deliver at then they can tell you what doctors work there you can get a list of a couple different hospital & get a tour jus about anyd day of the week jus call and talk to them and they can explain everything to you and which ever one you like the best start there. One other thing some people get put on bed rest so if taht was the case it would also be better to be close to home so you dont have to travel far at the end of your pregnancy when you have to go every week and of even you decide to go on maturity level you wont have to go far from home and it you go into labor in the middle of the night you wont have far to drive cause baby comes when it wants to maybe Google Ob in your city

I would look at your hospital options first: do they offer delivery options that are important to you? With my first, I just went straight for the local OB office and delivered at the local hospital. I didn't have a bad experience at all, but this time I'm driving 25-35 min away to a different doctor to deliver at a different hospital. Now I see that the OB staff here is quite rude in comparison to my office now, the hospital is newer and offers a more comfortable delivery setting with nicer rooms and a tub instead of just a shower.
