I am getting to the point where I think it is time to start potty training ds. He is 2 1/2, he can dress and undress himself, he tells me when he wants his diaper changed, and he is able to get on the potty, he has used the potty before just not consistently.
Since I am not with him most days I don't know the best way to start.
They don't seem to be doing much in the way of potty training at day care. They tell me he won't use the potty there and he fights them when they try to change his pull up.

I started reading Potty Training in One Day and think I might try that next weekend. I started talking to ds about having a potty party and he seems like he gets the concept but I'm not sure how he will really take to it. I like the idea to make it an event and then I can dedicate one weekend to really hammering in the potty training. I just hope that he will follow through at day care too.

How have other working moms handled potty training?
Has anyone tried this potty training in one day method?

I have not tried myself, but I have heard of others using this successfully.

I am thinking of trying soon, dd is showing some signs of being ready. The only thing I have read about potty training is not to force it, and if it seems like he is losing interest and really fighting it to scrap it and try again later.

I think the hard part is day care. I think it depends on what the mix of children is, and how willing the daycare is to work with you.

I have a whole 2 working mom friends who have a child who is about 1 year older than my dd, so I think I will ask them how it is working for them.

GL! I would be curious to hear how about your experience.

Well Friday afternoon I told ds we were having a potty party and there would be balloons and cake and we would get big boy underpants and say bye bye to diapers.
He was all for it and wanted to go get those underpants that afternoon.
So we did and started potty training right away. He did really good all weekend.
I hope he is ok at school today. Im nervous about this because at home we could just focus on the potty and at school there are lots of distractions. He wanted to bring his froggy potty and we brought cupcakes for all the kids so hopefully that will keep his spirits up about it.

What a fun idea. Glad to hear it was a success. I hope the day at daycare goes well - maybe with the new fun potty, and the treats it will help keep him on track. I can't wait to hear how it goes

What signs did ds give you that he was ready?

The signs I noticed were:
he can dress and undress himself with no help
he knew when he was wet or dirty and requested a new diaper
he wakes up from naps and in the mornings still dry
he had actually hopped on the big potty by himself before
I asked him if he wanted big boy underpants and he said yes.
